Full Caepotisa Graft

Thinking hard about doing a full body caepitosa graft including all pups. Plan is to separate plant just at the root line. Root Stock could be a 6 to 10" PC yearling in excellent Health or a thicker 14" plant . Pics attached with shots of yearnings added also

On paper it looks like a winner. If anyone has tried im interested in their results or opinions.

I got these at a ridiculously low price and for once can afford to make a mistake. Ive done upwards of 25 grafts with a 95% success rate not including micro grafts which seem way more dependant on peresciopsis genetics.

Orphaned Babies

A berried mother unfortunately died. Unknown causes and the only death ive had in months.

I read online the eggs can be brought to term. Set up a net close to a bubbler; seeing oxygen and protection as the primary needs.

10 days later I have my first hatchling scampering about. There is room to exit but it is about 3" from the birth site, and ive also read that babies will not venture far from their bith location. I Put a chunk of freshly cured almond leaf and a small ball of moss in the area close to the other eggs.

What else can I feed these babies? Since i cant keep track of it well enough to release it im not wishing to suffer the rest to save one. My understanding is they eat microscopic detritus and to introduce that near the eggs would likely be distasterous for mold or whatever.

Can I mulch a small amount of shrimp food or will they even be able to eat that? Hopefully the rest (that survive) will hatch soon and I can just turn the net. There are no predators or fish of any kind.

Early PC Pups?

I got this old cut plant about a year ago in a deal with a grower I'll ever deal with again. At any rate I'm running low on root stock and was considering using it or repotting the guys gross mix. Ironically I tried a combo fertilizer on all my columnar plants the other day (pee tek, kelp and hydrosilate at conservative doses). I went to graft it today and saw what's in the photos. I've never caught a plant right before it pups (except lophs)it looks like 3 pups to me . If anyone's got an opinion I'd be glad to hear it.

Thanks

Indian Zebra Super Bloated (pregnant?)

Is this early stages of berrying? I used 3× mag glasses and a mag glass and saw no eggs. Just a fat abdomen.

Sorry for all the questions. My tank is so well planted and logged i can go days without seeing the same shrimp. I have about 50 CRS and Indian Zebra in an over filtered 15g. I'm setting up a second 20g tank and will gradually segregate by type.

Grafting Sections of Crested San Pedro

I Have a couple of really nice TPC "Crested San Pedro" which I selected with the idea to remove individual fan shaped sections for grafting. The last thing I want to do is eff these beauties up though. Has anyone got a link to a guide for Crested San Pedro grafting or some good tips? Pictures would go a long way. They are multiple years old plants so lots of sections but I don't want to damage them.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Surgery and Sulphur or Just Dry It Out?

I used some lava Rock chips as top dressing and it trapped a lot of moisture. My first case of rot. Should I do a sanitary cutting and dust with Sulphur or roll the dice? Already removed from pot and drying on clean paper towels. Luckily the pot mate is ok so far.

Flixtor sites

Hi Sub. I'm looking for flixtor addresses that haven't been banned in Canada. Flixtor.nu worked for awhile but now it's blocked also. Anyone know any alternate flixtor addresses? I can't even seem to search anything using chrome or even tor browser all I get is other pirate sites that aren't flixtor. I love flix and it's all ive used for years (paid membership with a buddy I share with he's fucked now also)

Help a brother out please

Flix Help Please

Ive been using flixt_r in Canada for awhile. Recently my provider started flagging and disabling it. I switched to the flixt r.nu for a few months and now that is failing. It won't work with VPN (or any to my understanding) can anyone recommend some other flixtor pages that might not be blocked already. I'm screwed for media viewing currently.

Anyone Have Advice for Grafting Crested Plants

I got a great deal in this crested Pedro and feel it's a good opportunity to experiment with grafting these. Ive done several Lophs successfully and would like to branch out (in all seriousness).

Amy advice or criticism accepted. I have a good assortment of root stock in different species.

Thanks in advance.

Ive Heard Grafting Kills Root Stock

Y hIve Heard Grafting Kills Root Stock.... Not always or even often from my perspective. I haven't lost one in 3 years. The Pere in the photo until last year had spent 3 years supporting a loph that became the size of a softball. It had no leaves left and was degraftef last Christmas. It has bounced back in top form and is once again the pride of the peresciopsis fleet.

I have other grafts that use pedro and Grandiflorus stocks and they have beautiful root balls and appear quite happy and healthy.

Just my observations. Happy Grafting.

Better to Remove Pups on a Loph Graft?

I have always left the pups on my grafts some of my plants have upwards of 15 or more. Curious if it's worth it to remove on existing plants and new grafts moving forward.

On a Loph Graft is it better to remove pups to allow the mainbody to grow faster or does it leave scarring and risk rot or damage?

I have several and never removed any. I saw another thread with a suggestion to remove new Loph pups to allow the main plant to bulk up.

Root Rot? See pics

San pedro I got off a less than reputable local seller. Live and learn. This plant hasn't grown in half a year and my suspicion is it was much worse when the guy sold it to me. None of my other plants had this and I have many.

First Failed Grafts?

Ive done numerous grafts but never had an uneven dry up like this. They are both solid and firm but I'm Wondering what the long term outlook might be?

I assume its the heat? It's been boiling in Vancouver this week, and I left them in my garage with a bunch of cuttings I'm drying out. My wife reminded me I usually leave them in the house where we have ac on alot of the day.

VARIEGATED OR JUST DISCOLORED FROM SOIL?

I got a bunch of Loph Wills off several sellers and finally downwatered a few weeks after potting them all. I noticed this little beauty had some cool coloration on a few lower edges. This is my new favorite loph. So bloody cute. Anyways I noticed this and wondered (hoped) it may be a bit variegated. Seems likely that's it's just discoloration from being close to the roots. Thanks for any feedback.

I got this caepitosa from a seller for 8$ US. I know right. If anyone wants to know the seller just ask privately. I'm not breaking any rules I love this sub and advertising is not my day job.

Slightly Etoliated I Presume?

About 3 months old. Seems pretty healthy otherwise. I have a few hundred more , half of them caepitosa . I can increase the light but my next bigger light is waaay more powerful. They are in a window with led as well. I recently lowered the lights by about 50%. Hopefully the etoliation will lessens. The suns arc will improve as well in the next few weeks and they will get a few hours more filtered sunlight through the low e glass window. Currently about 18000 lux 6 to 8 hours a day will improve to 8 to 10 by middle June amd increase over summer.

Crap pics but my soil drying on seedlings...

Don't want to open unless absolutely necessary. Soil is pasteurized why risk it. I gave them a spray a week ago but it's dry again. About 6 weeks old and slightly etoliated I'm adding new lights this Saturday. But otherwise looking happy and energetic.

Should I soak the soil?

I have 300 more seeds and I'm going to try some different soil mixes. I used sacred buttons advice and this is just straight seedling soil. Soaked and pasteurized. If this is drying out though adding inorganic will just hasten the drying wouldn't it???

Christmas came early. Suggestions for substrates please.

Going to try some different soil (or lack thereof) mixes and label, and date them to see which works best. My first big order. Pic attached. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions. For size the largest is 5cm the smallest 2cm.

EDIT:For the record I have currently: Worm castings, Cactus soil mix (just big box soil), Acadama, Fine Pumice , Fine lava Rock, 1-2 mm sifted lime screenings, 1-2 mm sifted riversand pebbles, 3/8 expanded clay pellets, Vermiculite, Coco coir, Perlite, peat

The grower of those used (so he re commended to me anyways (he showed a pic of it ) 3 parts pumice , and 1 part worm castings and peat moss. The bottom of the pots are lined with coconut husks (coco coir basically). Seems very contrary to what I'm reading, but the results are self evident.

This caepitosa wasn't the greenest when I got it a few years ago. It became very faded over winter and while I was out of town for 2 months my wife gnarly drowned it. Which was why it's in a terracotta at the moment. I wanted the roots to come back it had minor rot until 6 weeks ago.

Anyways Google AI says too much light. It's in a window with 6 or 7 hours of sunlight plus some led used in winter.

Thoughts, opinions , suggestions
