I haven’t taken the blue protective layer off yet and won’t till I place it on the nook, but sometimes you just need more light to travel around an interior. I use to do this with metallic leaf foil but have graduated to using adhesive mirror film. It’s a wonderful way to make something brighter without adding more lights. Of course… for this one I added an additional led light as well that I’ll mount near the peak of the interior.

I’m going to limit this series to painted edges to preserve the cartoon nature of it. But this is super cute!

I wanted to do another base and who can resists dinosaurs. I mean look at that T-Rex… put a ribbon falling across the front of it and it’s right out of the first movie!

For the models they went together over 5-6 days total for all 4 with in between times from meetings and work stuff. The base itself took a day to design and construct and had to be modified post cutting. I’ll roll those mods into the cut design that I’ll make available through atomm.com

I was able to hide the majority of the tabs on all the models though I accidentally separated the brachiosaurus neck and had to resecure it with some b-7000.

And now I’m thinking about how to construct a neat base for aliens…. Maybe a 2 sided one like the alien is in a space station and nostromo is out a porthole. Hmmmm…

Just a friendly PSA if you’re trying to exact match Stella Castles grey and finding it impossible. It’s got a red/pink tone so a light grey base with a water based pink wash over the top (very lightly applied) does the trick.

I had these in my backlog for almost 2 years now and with my recent bent to add a base for my models where I can, this was perfect.

The models went together well enough outside of some battle damage hot rod has with his mirrors. I really liked the way they interlocked the smoke stacks of IronSide and Optimus Prime. Hot Rod was the PITA out of the bunch.

The base took 3 tries to get right.. so 6 sheets of plywood. Guess that’s the cost of doing business with custom designs.

So while I did get a Tokyo alley from the raffle event, this is not that. :) I found that it was very reminiscent of MimiAlley designs and so I included my girl from those ones. Kind of a theme for me and Minialley but the design of it is different enough that while feeling similar it also feels like an early draft from them.

Some things I really enjoyed were the roof shingles and opening and closing doors. I thought the cat in the window was too cartoony but didn’t care enough to replace it. The fish stand display was empty as well and I thought that was a miss. The trashcan is a pretty great design imo though. I appreciate the attempt at making the lantern wires part of the scene but it feels slightly like it could have been iterated a few more times. The wiring was simple but also… I really didn’t need a whole 6 feet of extra wire.

I modded it somewhat but not extensively, mostly dealing with adding more character and ambiance to it.

Mods:

* painted edges and other things
* added “ice” and fish to the fish stand (separate post)
* added in my figurine
* sanded down the roof tile strips to create an overlap effect (separate post)
* added magnets to the fish market door to allow it to be in the open or closed position and stay there

And that’s all folks, would recommend it to others with caveat that this is the companies first nook. I expect more refund things out of their future ones but the direction is good.

Dear Sir or Madam,

You are cordial invited to join Jack & Rose for dinner at 7 o’clock sharp in the ballroom deck accessible through the grand staircase. Formal wear is required.

This is by far the largest “nook” I have done by at least 30%. Not only is it grand in visuals but it is grand in scale. Joohour has faithfully captured the look, feel and chills that James Cameron captured so many years ago in one of DiCaprio’s break out roles as Jack Dawson.

The base kit includes lights and wooden furniture but the rugs, people and resin furniture and add ins are available separately. And it’s a hefty price tag but… everything comes in the box that you need to finish this.

Some small details to call out.

* the bannister heads have directions for wood pieces to use but it actually ships with 5 resin pieces you can use instead that looks so much better
* lots of paint mixing here so if your an edge painter I’d look at the colors and use your own rather than mix theirs. Makes your life easier.
* the wood furniture is ok but the resin is SO Much better. Get that if you can afford it. Works so much better.

Mods:

* replaced entirely the lighting with custom led light strips and dome. Pics of the replacements are in the Flickr link.
* I added 5 10inch light strips (3 on top and 1 on each side wall to light up the windows. Also added a dome light, all of this runs through 1 power supply and controlled by an rf remote.
* painted edges backsides etc…
* embellished and personalized a number of things in the base unit to gild it some more.
* painted and placed the 3d add on elements, made a story there

So a month or 2 ago I completed the Forgotten Temple by NookMaster and thought at the time that it should be turned into the abandoned cathedral from FF7 where we get some iconic scenes with Aerith kneeling amongst the flowers. Thanks to u/pluck-the-bunny and an Etsy stl purchase I was able to accomplish that.

So here she is with Buster leaning against the wall.

I really like how this came out. Big anime feel to it.

So I did Village a while ago but was always annoyed that it had nothing to really tie all these little adorable houses together. So I did something about that.

Built the 4 shops from Diagon alley. Same designer as the 3 part Hogwarts I think.

The last of the 5 set of mini books from Viendor. This is a building from Ha Noi and is probably the most accessoried one of the set. I love the open door design and the interior print on the acrylic.

I modified where the lights go and move them up into the ceiling well so they weren’t directly visible and added a straw as wire control. It originally had the lights right on that wall and that was gonna overpower everything.

Other than that was just painted edges. This one makes me want to go do the full Ha Noi now 🤪

4rth in the series of Mini Nooks from Viendor. This one is one of the buildings from Jui Fen Old Street that anyone who has built it will recognize it as one of the endless layers buildings because right when you think your done… there another layer you have to do. This “mini” took as much time as some standard nooks to build.

Just one left now which I’ll work on next. I’ll do a collection post after just so everyone can see them all together. Mods are painted edges and replacing signage. I placed one of the cats inside the building :)

Also of note. They got the sizes of 2 sets of holes on the roof transposed. It took a small drill to wide. The outside holes for the black clothes line/electric bikes sufficiently.

3rd in the series of mini nooks from Viendor. This one is depicting a Japanese building. Similar in style to some of the juifen old street buildings, the window and door slide and can be positioned to your desire. It comes with a bike but I just reused the one I already built for juifen than was extra. I added the potted tree. One thing interesting was the interior print on the open back side. Interesting choice.
