Living Room

Forever work in progress. More wall art needed, I know! Working on it. Let me know what I can improve.

Also: Yes, TV too high. Don’t invite the brigade. Also also: there are zero fake plants in these photos. Don’t even.

Struggling to find my style, help me

I really love browsing online interior design Instagrams and websites, but when I go start shopping for myself, I'm always drawn to vintage furniture. I specifically like to frequent a place nearby that imports early 20th century pieces from Europe.

I'm trying to find my style through this dining room. I bought this harvest table because I loved it -- the distressed base, the pine plank top -- and I'm going down to Round Top this weekend (just a few hours away) to pick up these chairs from a dealer friend. I'm now questioning these chairs a little.... I always start questioning things when I start putting them together.

It's like my eye knows what it wants when I'm looking online, and then when I start piecing it together, I can't ever get it right.

And I'm really flirting with this huge apothecary cabinet because I just love it -- it's another European import. I always just end up buying pieces that I love individually, and then struggle at making them work together.

I'm trying to find the words for this style, and get opinions about it. In truth, I haven't bought anything I can't just resell and try a different way.

(FYI, I know this wagon wheel chandelier is super basic -- I don't love it either -- but I'm in a rental right now, so I can't easily replace it. I could if I absolutely had to.)

What am I missing? What can I do better? Be nice -- I don't know what I'm doing.

Entryway and breakfast follow-up

I’ve posted about this area before. Found this table locally for 100 bucks, and it seemed like a better option that the previous black one.

Looking for follow-up opinions on this space!

First photo during day, second with no sunlight (in case that helps, but I don’t think it solves the problem).

Something is wrong, but I can’t figure out what. Is it the color? The sheer? The full-width placement?

Should I try something lighter and less rigid?
