41M, post divorce one year. Living with parents while I get back on my feet. Don’t have much anymore, but the much I do have speaks to who I am.
It’s a good place for me to sit and relax. One step at a time, right?
690 sq ft and I pay less than that in rent. Crowded in some parts, bare in others. Just posting has made me want to move the bookshelf to the bedroom or something. The picture and the clock and the electric guitar are the bedroom wall. The bed space is really lacking and I don’t even want to show it. I thrift a lot of my decorations. The living room is nearly perfect in my eyes and is a wonderful place to relax in the morning but the baby’s area being so mixed looks odd. The rest feels like a Midwest house I grew up in. The kitchen needs a rug or something and a table bad.
My pal bought couches online I am thinking he did too much of leather and too much of seating area. Well he just divorced and first time alone. Honestly beautiful genuine leather sofas mid in mod style.
What do you guys think of this first home?

Fresh start in a new city and proud of how my living space has come along so far (my bedroom is basically empty)
Editing for those asking

I posted last week about moving into my new loft. Here is another angle. I really need to do something about my goods and shit.
First apartment living away from home. Knew that the spot would be semi-temporary and did my best knowing that, of course not perfect but happy with it. Shout out to my roommate for the Mitch Trubisky canvas😂
Still got to furnish my office area , but just happy to be mostly done with buying everything . Let me know what you guys think and what I should add maybe to elevate my townhome ! I’m thinking mostly decor and such .
Austin, TX. Lived with roommates since I left college, finally decided to get my own spot and happened to have a nice chunk laying around for a down payment. WFH and play drums for a few bands locally - hence the music room.
Still figuring out my design sense. Bathroom came renovated green so I wanted to have that flow through the house.
Still needs obvious work (walls are barren), but I’m proud of how the living room is coming together.
I finally finished decorating my living room, and I’m so happy with it!
I’ve been slowly putting this space together, and the TV wall was the part I kept going back and forth on. I didn’t want it to feel too empty, and I also didn’t want it to turn into a giant electronics corner.
Right now, I feel it is much more balanced. The wood media console is textured and a bit classic. The speakers and audio stuff also didn’t take over the whole room. I don’t like it to feel too crowded. I was worried those would all feel like separate things, but actually it feels like they belong together.
I feel like I’ve been staying in way more since setting it up. I keep inviting friends over to watch movies or just hang out because the room feels cozy now.
But I still want some advice. Would you change anything here? Maybe wall art, speaker placement, lighting, or is it better to leave it simple?
