Are the prices of Japneses opening back up again?

Has the Japanese Market corrected?

I saw this post on Instagram and was wondering if the prices of Japnese Pokémon booster boxes are opening back up again?

I think they are starting to see a large gap between TCGplayer and what you can get the boxes for in Japan currently. Will this hold?

Here are price gaps evidence on www.pactcg.com/seller-prices

Do you think these gaps will last? I think Japenese has been historically lower than US Prices for Japense cards. Will this maintain?

Has the market corrected?

At what point do you think importing Japanese booster boxes becomes worth it again over buying from TCGplayer?

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. I've always thought buying directly from Japan was cheeper.

A few years ago, importing directly from Japan felt like an easy decision. Even after shipping, you could usually come out well ahead.

Now it feels much less obvious.

Once you factor in:

  • Shipping
  • Import duties/taxes
  • Payment fees
  • Current TCGplayer prices

...some sets still save you money in bulk, while others barely break even or actually end up costing more.

Looking at the full landed cost for every Japanese set against TCGplayer, and the results surprised me.

  • Only the brand new sets appear like they are cheaper when importing.
  • Others are within a few dollars of TCGplayer after all the extra costs.
  • Most cost way more to actually more expensive to import.

So I'm curious what everyone else is doing.

  • When did this change?
  • Are you still importing from Japan?
  • Is there a minimum savings where it's worth the extra effort?
  • Or has buying domestically become the better play most of the time?

I'd love to hear how others think about the trade-off.

If You're Buying More Than 5 JP Booster Boxes Check This Out

We're all aware that you can get a better deal than TCGplayer if you buy directly from Japan.

If you are trying to buy more that 5 Japanese booster boxes it can make the most scene to just buy directly from Japan. There's a few things to be aware of and how to do it.

Most of the time you will have to find the JP sellers on Instagram then message them, then wire them funds.

I've gone ahead and made an order from for these JP sellers on Instagram. When you submit an order it goes into Pending and the JP seller on Instagram will let you know if they can fulfill your order.

Once they say that your order can be fulfilled you will receive a Stripe Link! No more WISE! You will be able to pay directly from a CREDIT CARD on a Stripe Checkout**.**

Your order will then be fulfilled and sent to you in about 2-3 days. It's can ironically even be faster than ordering from TCGplayer even though it is coming from across the world.

Basically if you are ordering ordering about 5 booster boxes from Japan it is way easier to just order directly. And now that they are accepting credit cards its even easier.

****CUSTOMS INFO IN USA*****
Your order can sometimes get caught up in customs in the USA. But if you keep it under $800 you do not have to pay the tariffs. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG.

Please also ALWAYS support your local LGS and also the stores online that are doing this importing work for you. There are so many great stores who take on the risk of importing for you. But if you want to take the step forward and order directly from Japan, here is a way to do it.

Hope this is a direction forward of making ordering from Japan more easy and less sketch!

Japanese AR 151 Pokédex - Missing Cards?

Hey! I am trying to collect a 151 AR Pokédex!

It looks like not every Pokémon in the original 151 has been granted a AR Card yet. I'm just curious about the Japanese cards here. Theres only 70/151 Pokemon that have AR cards?

This Pokédex covers Scarlet and Violet Era and Mega Evolutions era.

I want to pull the community!

  1. What is missing?
  2. How far back (what set should I start at) to get the first AR card?
  3. Who does everyone want to see next?! (Lots of missing Pokemon!)
  4. When do you think all 151 Pokémon will get a card!!!!

I really hope! I can make this my binder!!!!!!!! Thanks everyone!

Consolidated Japanese Prices List + Reviews!!!

I've been working on a consolidated Price List of the Japnese Pokemon sellers in Japan over the last two months! It's been a lot of work! I've messaged over 50+ sellers on Instagram and have built a data pipeline that reads over 20 google sheets and standardize them so you can compare the prices.

It's really cool because it let's you see the prices coming from Japan before they even get to your favorite local sellers. This is the bulk price they are willing to sell over in the USA.

I've been tracking it over two months on my website www.pacardexchange.com and have put them all into a single website! I've been working on this project for over the last two months!

We allow the community to submit reviews on these sellers. It's hard to want to purchase from someone if they do not have good reviews.

I know there's a lot of content on this from PokeNE and others on YouTube but I've done a lot of leg work to try to help people out in this area because there seems to be a huge need for it!

I hope this helps the Pokemon community!!!!
