Pidgeot Jungle:

Scyther, Snorlax and the Eeveelutions were the chases then and they’re the chases now, and I don’t think that was ever a judgment about the cards, rather the Pokemon on them. Nobody’s favourite was Pidgeot, despite any one who played the original games likely having one of their team.

Of the Jungle holos, for the most part they’re portraits, the Pokémon standing there being the Pokémon. Pidgeot is a dive with wings pinned back, talons already open, with the foil behind it doing the job of a sky it’s diving out of.

I think it's one of early Pokemon's most successful attempts at turning the art into a scene.

Unseen forces Bellossom:

Unseen Forces is a gold star set, and I’m not going to pretend Entei, Raikou and Suicune aren’t the correct answer. In fact, all of the gold stars are the valid answer for what the chase is. I'm pointing out the next layer of chases after the gold stars.

IMO, Bellossom is the best painting in the set. Saitou put three Bellossom in frame- multiple pokemon on a single card was still rare when this came out. The holo works as dimming the setting, making the sky darker and placing the other Bellossom into a dance line backgrounded by the central one. Imo, the best cards align the art with the Pokemon being featured. The energy of this card feels spot on for how Bellossom should be portrayed. I think this card is a great example of mid-era storytelling and pokemon-art alignment. I suppose mileage on this card varies based on what you think of Bellossom. If you think it's a top tier grass type, this card will hit more strongly.

Arbok Temporal Forces:

Again, putting the art first, OKUBU cut this card like a woodblock. The jungle reads as carved with flat greens and black contours. Most modern arts are a pokemon placed in a scene (in fact, a decent mountain of modern chases are actually just a popular Pokemon backgrounded by a miasma of colours- so less a scene than a vibe). This feels like the inverse, where a scene happens to contain a pokemon. The art almost feels more like a print than it does a pokemon card.

The irony of this one is that Arbok was one of the Pokemon that, since gen 1, people would complain hasn't gotten enough love.

I actually think temporal forces is an underrated modern set in terms of its art (with some being put off by the paradox pokemon), but when I was opening it, this was absolutely my chase. If PE Magikarp is the gold standard for modern IR, I see this as a tier below.

Literally just pulled a few mins ago!! Started collecting because of 30th.

Thinking about framing it with a magnet acrylic casing or selling and potentially buying more packs so we can chase after the Lugia card…

Stepmom went through my old family home attic and found this blast from the past. Some cards from the early sets; base set, base set 2, jungle, team rocket etc. Some hilarious fakes in addition to the ones I found and posted a while ago, and some unrelated Digimon cards.

Even though there’s no mindblowing finds here I’m very happy and the nostalgia hits hard, especially since I just started collecting again this year and haven’t opened any packs since I put cards into this binder as a child. Hope you enjoy looking through my treasure!

(Will take some time and sleeve them and put in a more safe binder. Any tips on how to deal with the cards that got ”arched” on the first pages?)

Deeply casual collector/player here! I got priced out of Pokemon years ago, but recently dug this card out while cleaning, is it still a "rare card" or should I give it to my niece to play with?

I really like the design of this card and wanna do a page themed around it but im struggling to find similar styled cards. which cards would fit with this? :)

This was seriously the BEST birthday and opening ever!! I still can’t believe it happened… 🥹✨ I screamed like I was getting murdered, and my neighbor was genuinely concerned and considering calling the cops. 😹 Thankfully she texted me first. Haha. It was truly just the most epic opening. 60% were EX or better, with lots of other IRs. So much awesome art!!

My birthday was 9/26, and all I wanted to do was rip. So I traded Gold Crown Pikachu, Raging Bolt SIR, Morpeko SIR, Timburr Chinese IR, and something I can’t remember 😅😹, and got 17 packs of 30th. Then I traded a girl in our local girl Pokémon group a Surging Sparks ETB from my collection for a 30th ETB.

It ended up working out to a session of 26 packs of 30th and 26 packs of a mix of random modern and Gem that I opened with my husband. I love the art SO much, and to get every one of my chase cards except the Sylveon (which I pulled last night 🥰) was INSANE.

What’s even crazier?!? We pulled these four within the first 17 packs!!!

It started with our 1st pull on the 1st pack, the Jirachi. On pack 4 came Gengar, which started my screaming. Then on pack 9, I pulled the night time Pikachu. I still can’t believe it. 🥹 It felt like all the Pokémon came to celebrate my birthday.😭♥️ I couldn’t stop screaming! 😅😹

I really didn’t think it could get any better, but on pack 14, from a Poster box, came my Mew. 🥹 That’s when the screaming was the most intense, because I couldn’t stop.😬 Haha. My voice ended up being effed for days. I’ve sung in bands and am used to abusing my voice, but it was truly like I was screaming bloody murder, because I couldn’t believe what the hell was happening!! 🤯 😭 🤯🥰🤯😳🥹🥰

I do wish I hadn’t opened the ETB. 😹 It had gold cards, which I’m not really into, and a Scraggy IR. I considered not opening it, but my husband got me with the “you never know,” and now I know.😹

And I also gotta say, I know there are people that are pissed because they’re not making money, blah blah blah, but I’ve LOVED opening 30th more than any other set. It reminds me a lot of opening the Chinese Gem boxes. I’ve only got 3 left to get all the IRs I want, but this memory of getting 4/5 SIRs on my birthday, including the night Pika party, will be very hard to beat. 🥹♥️

This hobby is truly incredible if you can look past the stupid. We all know what I mean. 😹 Sending good vibes so you all find your chase cards.🎉 ✨ My ultimate chase? The Chinese SAR Cubones on a Bridge. What about you??☺️

Bought a booster bundle and a mini tin and the last pack for each had these two.

Dad took me to the local card store for one pack pulled this baby safe to say I'm More than happy.

I recently found my old Pokémon card binder and thought I’d share it here. I still remember exactly where I pulled some of these cards as a kid, so looking through it brought back a lot of memories.

The pictures aren’t the best, but I always enjoy seeing other people’s childhood collections, so I figured some of you might enjoy mine too. :)

I was visiting my parents the other day and I found my old binder. Lots of good memories with these! Not sure what I'll do with them at this point. I moved them into top loaders for the time being.

My first time getting a god pack ! Never thought I would ever pull that in my life ! Somehow I did !! I am so happy that I got one of my chase 😩🤌🏻
