New Seastar 2000

No one talks about this new release. I really liked the old Seastar 2000, but it was so unwearable for me with the 46 mm case and over 16.25 mm thickness, so I had to pass.

I was excited when I heard it was getting updated with a reduced size (44 mm case and 15.30 mm thickness) and just had to try one out and see how it fits my 17 cm wrist. Anyone can decide for themselves about the new proportions, but it's definitely wearable now compared to the old one.

Overall the watch feels and looks great. The wave dial, which was the selling point of the old Seastar 2000 returns and it looks as stunning as ever. The metal on the lugs is brushed instead of polished this time, which I consider a positive thing, because it makes it less of a scratch magnet.

However there are two things I'm really not sure about at first glance:

  1. It's using the Powermatic 80.111 with the plastic escapement. The recent watch releases from Tissot like the Visodate and the updated Gentleman are powered by the Powermatic 80.611 with metal escapement, so why not this one as well?

  2. The bezel click did not feel right. Might have been an isolated problem with the model I tried on, but it definitely didn't feel great while turning. I'd say it was worse than the bezel of the Seastar 1000, which also wasn't the best. If you're looking into this watch make sure to check this out.

Anyone looking to get the "Special Attack Assemble" trophy?

There's no way to do this without boosting. Basically you need 4 players to apply their specials simultaneously. If you're looking to get this trophy hit me up.
