Teething

Can teething pain last for weeks at a time? 6M old is showing all the usual teething signs (chomping on hands/teething toys, rooting around in his mouth, extra drooly, fussy - especially at night, sleeping less) but I’m concerned at how long it’s lasting with no teeth erupting. It’s been almost 3 weeks now. It was worse in the first week with fussing occurring all day whereas now it’s mostly isolated to the evenings, but still. Is this normal!? We have a GP appointment but it’s not until 28th :(

Spoiling pregnant bestie!?

I’m 5 months pp and my bestie spoiled me rotten with a pregnancy bag full of things to get me through my pregnancy and then a postpartum care package with all the essentials. She’s now pregnant with her second and I’d love to do something similar for her.

What things can I get her for pregnancy/postpartum that she might have forgotten about and/or may not have thought about that would be super helpful?

I’m also considering putting together a tiny package for her eldest so he doesn’t feel too pushed out by the new arrival - thoughts? Books, snacks, a toy maybe.

Some things I have in mind so far:

Pregnancy
• Lush bump massage bar

Labour/Postpartum
• perineal ice packs
• disposable nickers
• disposable breast pads
• peri bottle
• shower gel
• pyjamas
• deodorant
• Uber eats / M&S gift voucher

I’m also in the process of hand knitting a blanket for the new arrival

Sleep

3 month old won’t sleep in his next to me or Moses basket for more than 1hr. I don’t understand why.

Ever since the early days he’s not liked his Moses basket, but until 8 weeks old was content to sleep in his next to me for 2-4 hour stretches overnight. Now we’re lucky if we get 1hr out of him. I truly don’t understand it, because he gets his best sleep when in his baby bjorn bouncer, and while I don’t mind him snoozing in there *too much* while supervised during the day, I need to put him somewhere safe at night.

We resorted to co-sleeping (using sleep 7), which gave us longer stretches again but now he’s starting to roll I’m not comfortable continuing this due to safety. When this worked I did initially wonder if it might be a scent/closeness thing, but the fact he’s so content in his bouncer suggests otherwise.

Why won’t he sleep in his crib?!?! Help!

Epstein pearl?

Has anyone ever experienced Epstein pearls forming on the floor of the mouth?

My LO is now almost 13 weeks old and has had this lump for a good few weeks. I think we first noticed it at around 3 weeks and raised it with both HV and GP who had no clue what it was but had no concerns as it didn’t seem to be causing him any discomfort or issues. After some googling I dismissed this as an Epstein pearl, although it doesn’t seem all that common to be on the floor of the mouth. I also read they usually clear up by 3 months, but it’s still there.

Anyway… Fast forward to now and he’s started chomping down aggressively on his hands and showing other teething symptoms such as excessive drool, fussiness, discomfort, etc. And I’m super paranoid that this lump could be the cause of it as he seems to be putting his fingers on/close to it.

We’re booked in with the GP but not for another 2 weeks, so I’m just wondering if anyone else has a similar experience with Epstein pearls appearing on the floor of the mouth/lasting past 3 months, or if their LO has had a similar lump that turned out to be something else?
