Are there any examples of independent scholars without a PhD getting published in academic journals?

To my understanding, it's technically possible for anyone to publish a peer-reviewed paper. But does anyone know of actual examples of that happening? Has anyone in this sub done it themselves? Asking mostly out of curiosity as I don't have nor ever see myself having the financial means to pursue a MA/PhD, and while I doubt my research is publishable by any means, I'd like to at least be realistically informed on the topic.

Edit: Thanks everyone for your replies. I guess as additional information for anyone who reads this later, I'm interested in humanities, not STEM or anything that needs lab access. Appreciate any and all responses, however.

Lf a non-shiny male Sneasler. I don't have LA so I can't get one myself.

Let me know what you want in return! I can't offer shinies or legendaries though so please be reasonable.

As you can probably guess by the title, I'm a casual player. I play all games on the easiest/story settings as that's just my preference.

Based on my experience so far, the Easy difficulty feels more similar to other games' Normal difficulty. The campaign and neutral units are fine as they are, but the AI enemies in single-player classic games somehow get armies twice as big as mine in the same amount of time, which adds a level of challenge I don't personally enjoy.

I know the HoMM series has a very dedicated fanbase who like to play on highest difficulty/PvP, so this might seem odd, but I don't want to do the whole "split one unit into ten stacks" and whatever other strategies are out there. I play the game to explore the map, collect shiny trinkets, recruit cute little guys, and see number go up.

I've actually been playing the series since HoMM 3, and the only reason I ever beat that game and its single-player story maps (which I love!) is because I used cheats. I would love to not have to do this in Olden Era once it's out properly.

On a similar note, I'd also love to see a return of single-player alliance maps. In HoMM 3, I had a great time setting up 2v2 games and letting my AI ally duke it out with our enemies while I ran around picking up shinies. Plus, since I'm more of a story-oriented person, I liked coming up with stories about how different factions allied and why they were at war with the others. Headcanoning a bunch of lore is my idea of a fun time while playing these games, even though I know that's not what it's about for most other players.

TLDR: Please give me an easier difficulty and/or allow me to have AI allies in single player maps! Thanks!
