People who live in Borrego Springs and adjacent communities: how do you handle the heat?

Its been hot for everyone in the county, but last weekend I took a motorcycle ride through Anza Borrego and back up to Julian, and I've never experienced anything like that! It was so hot I was worried my bike would overheat and I didnt feel like I could safely stop anywhere because there was no shade. I hope there are signs near those metal statues out in the desert warning people not to touch them - cant even imagine how hot those must get.

There were a handful of people around, and I even saw a little old lady biking on the side of the highway, but I just cannot imagine living in that heat. So what's your secret? Do yall just leave town for the summer? Live underground? Build up a tolerance?

Hope you stay healthy through this and other heat waves.
