Is it just me, or does it feel like the Sri Lankan IT industry is much smaller than it was around 2020–2022?

Now it feels like many companies are expanding their teams in India instead, while Sri Lanka is seeing fewer opportunities and less hiring.

Why is this happening?

Is it mainly because India has:

A much bigger talent pool?
Lower costs?
Better infrastructure?
More experienced IT companies?
Easier access to specialised talent?
And are there actually fewer IT companies and jobs in Sri Lanka now compared with the 2020s?
Would be interested to hear from people working in the Sri Lankan IT industry. What has changed over the last 4–5 years?
