Is 2.5 HP AC overkill for a 4.5m x 4m room?

Hi everyone,

I recently bought and installed a 2.5 HP Carrier Nexus split-type inverter AC. Unfortunately, I think I miscalculated the room size-to-HP ratio. My room is only around 4.5m x 4m, or about 18 sqm.

Since the unit is already installed, I’m wondering:

Is 2.5 HP overkill for this room size?

Does the “inverter” feature still help in this situation, or will my electricity bill likely suffer because the unit is too large?

What would be the best/recommended temperature setting to use to keep electricity consumption reasonable?

I’m based in the Philippines, so the weather is usually hot and humid.

Thank you in advance for your responses. Have a great day!

Is 2.5 HP AC overkill for a 4.5 x 4 room?

Mom bought 2.5HP carrier nexus split type AC. Installed na rin po. Walang silbi na po ba yung pagiging inverter since tataas na rin lang yung kuryente kasi di akma sa room size? Nanghihinayang lang po ako. Advise naman po sa best temp for energy efficiency?
