Good Modular helmet around 2k?

Hey everyone,

I recently bought a TVS Ronin and I’m looking for a modular helmet since I wear specs and convenience matters for daily office commuting. I’ll mostly ride in the city, with maybe 1–2 highway/touring rides a year.

I’ve shortlisted:

  • Vega Crux DX (~1100–1150g) — very lightweight
  • Studds Trooper (~1350g) — feels more sturdy/safe

Confused between lightweight comfort vs better build.

Anyone who has used these long-term:

  • Is Trooper too heavy for daily use?
  • How’s comfort in traffic?
  • Any durability issues (visor/hinge)?
  • Is Vega good enough for city riding or too flimsy?

Would love inputs, especially from specs users and daily commuters. If you have other suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

I finally bought ittt

After several Reddit posts, asking people around, several test rides and bike comparisons, and long conversations with ChatGPT, I finally bought it.

I am soo satisfied with the purchase. Got it for 1.51 Lakh in Gurgaon. I think this is very very good price for a bike, ticks all my needs. Thank you everyone.

Can I buy Ronin base variant?

Thinking of buying the TVS Ronin base variant (single-channel ABS) mainly because I absolutely love the red color, and the mid variant costs around ₹26k more in Gurgaon.

But I ride a bit aggressively in traffic — lots of overtakes, occasional highways, and Gurgaon rains can get pretty bad. My usual braking style is using both front and rear brakes together.

I’ve read mixed opinions online:

  • some people say front brake does most of the work anyway,
  • some say Ronin’s rear brake is soft enough that it rarely locks,
  • while others strongly recommend dual-channel ABS for safety.

Wanted honest feedback specifically from Ronin base variant owners:

  • Have you ever faced rear wheel skids/lockups?
  • Did you ever regret not getting dual-channel ABS?
  • Does the rear brake actually lock easily in emergency braking?
  • Would you still choose the base variant again?

Would really appreciate long-term ownership experiences.

Buying a new Ronin in Gurgaon

Folks from Gurgaon who’ve purchased Ronin in Gurgaon, could you please share your experience. I am planing to make the purchase tomorrow but I am afraid if I’ll face th issues with servicing and other things people talk online.

Could you please tell me if you’ve faced any issues and how easy/tough it was to deal with it?

TVS ronin or Honda CB350 RS

I’m 23, 5’10, 85 kgs, working in Gurgaon, and looking to buy my first proper bike mainly for city use/office commute (90% city riding, Gurgaon traffic, occasional pillion too).
I was almost fully fixated on the TVS Ronin after multiple test rides. Loved how nimble, easy and effortless it felt in traffic. Also the lower running/service costs and ~₹50-60k lower price compared to the Honda CB350RS make a lot of sense to me.

But after speaking to multiple TVS showrooms in Gurgaon, I found out mid/top variants of the Ronin are barely available right now (not considering base because single-channel ABS). Looks like production/supply has reduced, so I may have to wait 1-2 months.

Meanwhile, I test rode the CB350RS again and honestly the engine, clutch feel and refinement feel amazing. It feels like a more premium and complete bike overall.

Only issue:

CB350RS feels less nimble/agile in traffic
Tall gearing might become annoying in bumper-to-bumper Gurgaon traffic

So now I’m confused:
Wait 1-2 months for Ronin?
Or get CB350RS delivery in 10 days and move on?

People who’ve used either bike majorly in city traffic, what would you honestly suggest ?

I’ve contacted every showroom in Gurgaon for the last 3 weeks. No one can make the mid variant available. And they have no idea about the delivery as well. They only have the base black variant available, but that has single channel ABS, that’s why I was going for mid variant. Why is production so low??
