RBC is disgusting

They care about no one, especially small business.

I own a brick and mortar small business. I had a personal and business account with RBC. Sadly, I had to file a personal consumer proposal because I was under water.

The business was doing great though.

When opening the small business account, despite my business being incorporated I was told that if I wanted to borrow money, I had to have an established business of two years. Despite the fact that I was in there to apply for the CSBFP which does not require you to be open or preexisting. I mentioned my old business which has existed for 2 years. And then was given a line of credit and a credit card.

Fast forward, I am a year into my shop being open when I file the consumer proposal. But my business account is still listed as a sole proprietor. Rbc takes every penny from my business account and closes all credits.

I go back and fourth with them for a month. They tell me multiple times that my money will be given back and my credit reinstated when they receive the articles of incorporation. After a month they tell me nope, that will not be happening after all.

I tried fighting it but there is no hope.

Do not open a business account with RBC. Branch reps know nothing. Rbc you are disgusting.

Edit: oh man! Okay, lesson learned. Do not complain on the internet. This is honestly the first time I have been ripped apart online. Definitely doesn't feel good. You guys are vicious. Whether stating facts or not, this was definitely a kick me while I am down moment.

Everything you are saying, I know. I know how it works and I know that they were well within their rights to seize those funds.

I am saying that I wasn't properly informed of products or my responsibilities when I opened the account. I was also told by multiple associates in the bankruptcy department that it would be fixed. And then it wasn't.

I am not trying to hide anything. I opened an art therapy studio for kids and people with disabilities. I over invested personally and I was not prepared financially. When I say the business was doing well, I mean I was able to pay rent and supplies and keep the lights on. RBC took $3000. That's it guys. A measly $3K. And that was enough to make my life a lot harder. And I have been working night and day all summer just to get by.

And for forks sake, yes, I am fully aware that maybe it wasn't a great business decision. But it makes people happy and helps them and I am stuck in a three year lease.

Blah blah, you don't care. That's fine. I am just trying to clear things up.

Did I fork up? Yes. Was RBC a dick about it? Also yes. I just needed to bitch and maybe inform other people about what happened so they can avoid it.

I am in fact going to go cry now. Have a nice day.

Horrible Commercial Landlord

I am one year into a 3 year commercial lease and it has been a nightmare. I am a small business running recreational activities and art classes for kids. Since day one my landlord has broken multiple terms of the lease. The space is also in Power of Sale but he is still responsible for all landlord duties.

And now today, my AC unit stopped working. I have called, texted and emailed him multiple times. It is incredibly hot in here and we have kids coming through all day. Unfortunately, I do not have access to the unit or electrical panel.

He has cost me business already and I may have to start canceling appointments if this doesn't get fixed.

I have had a lawyer send letters to him in the past but he ignores them. And sadly I am not in a positional financially to pursue serious legal action.

I am not sure what to do.
