Got accused of being a scalper by a 10 year old

I was grocery shopping with my wife today and, on the way out, I stopped at the Pokémon vending machine and tapped the screen. Sold out. Nobody was waiting, so I hung around for the reset, tapped it again, and… still sold out.
As I was walking away to get back in the checkout line, I hear this faint voice behind me

“Mister… mister…”

I turn around and there’s a kid, probably 8–10 years old, looking at me.

“Hey man, it’s not cool to scalp.”

I was legitimately taken aback.

“What are you talking about?”

I almost started defending myself to this child before realizing how ridiculous it would be for a grown man to explain his Pokémon purchasing habits to an 8-year-old.

But I’m not gonna lie… I was actually offended 😂

I’ve never scalped anything. I collect because I enjoy it, and if I’m buying packs and a kid walks up while I’m checking out, I will routinely buy the pack drop for them before because this hobby is way more for them than it is for me.

Anyway, I walked away questioning my entire existence.

Ultimately, fuck that kid.

Vending machine magic

I don’t know how I’m having this much luck with the vending machines, but I’m going to keep riding the streak. Stopped at the grocery store on my way home and there was a PE and a PO booster bundle just sitting there waiting for me.

While I was checking out, another guy walked up and was bummed nothing showed up on the reset. I felt bad buying both, so I offered him the PO bundle. He said he’d never pay over $40 for one and was shocked when I told him it was only $28. Told him to enjoy the rips.

I’m committed to changing the culture at my local grocery store vending machines.

My first ever vending machine hit

Another guy had just walked up right after I hit and we literally had to force each other to touch the screen for the restock because he kept insisting I was there first, even though I had already got these. I told him, “No man, it’s all yours, I’m already set.” He ended up getting some booster packs and a PH Booster Bundle

Honestly, this was probably the most amicable vending machine experience I’ve ever had. Usually these things turn into a feeding frenzy, so I was glad we both got a hit.
