NEC 110.26 working distances for HVAC condenser unit

My understanding is that NEC 110.26 working distances apply to HVAC condenser units which are electrical equipment. If it's in front of an exterior wall that has electrical equipment like a disconnect, then I think condition 3 applies, so minimum distance for 240V equipment facing a disconnect on a wall is 4 feet. Does that sound right?

It's not very convenient for my purposes, because then I have to figure out how to run the refrigerant lines back to the wall too. But I don't want to put the condenser on the house wall, and I'd rather just do it right so I don't have to worry about spending money on a code violation later. Can someone clarify if I've interpreted the depth of working space correctly?

I know there are lots of HVAC installs where no one pulls a permit or gets inspected and they don't follow NEC. I'm not talking about those situations. I just want to figure out what NEC requires for my house.
