Would combing the route BK took home post murder with a metal detector to find the knife be worthwhile?

Just watched the Netflix doc and it seemed like they had the southern route between Pullman and Moscow pretty well mapped, do you think it would have been worth it to try and find the murder weapon somewhere on those highways?

As a tall dude, this is my first truly proportionate bike

Worth the wait. Frame is from Waltworks, wheels are Nextie laced to Son front, Onyx rear, SRAM Force AXS drivetrain, Enve fork + post, Wisky bars, Brooks saddle, 180mm ti cranks.
