Visiting Galveston sometime in the next week question

Hi i have an extended summer break July 1st-8th and my 5 year old and I are looking to take a road trip from Austin. It sounds like the 4th gets kind of nuts and wanted to check in. Would going the 5th through 8th be better? Looking to see some of Galveston and my son is excited about a ferry and any train related activities there. Thanks for your time.

Thanks for reading. Comment or DM if you have any for sale.

Bird in chimney now bird in house

We are located in north Austin and heard birds chirping in our chimney for a few days and couldn’t see anything and thought maybe they were just outside it.

Woke up today and heard the sound of flapping in our laundry room. Went outside and looked in the window and this guy was looking back.

Anyone know of any Austin services who can safely remove a bird? I thought about wearing a lot of padding and going in to try and open the window.

There is a parking lot sale near where I live and it’s incredible. It’s full of diggable boxes full of all kinds of wonderful things. We all could see what was there and when they gave the ok, could charge at them and make our piles. It’s the absolute best.

I had my eye on something I could see while waiting. It was a 1988 Nintendo suitcase with who knows what was in it. When it was time, I raced towards it and got it first and created a pile and put it in. Inside the suitcase was a Nintendo and super Mario brothers 3. I was pumped. People were telling me what a score it was.

After I was done digging, I went through the pile and didn’t notice there was a piece of wood haphazardly covering a hole, and the suitcase slid right down it and falling down until I heard a splash. I was mortified.

I was honest about it to the people throwing the event and they thought it was funny which was a relief. People made me crude tools to try to fish it out and I got close a couple times. Four times I hooked the suitcase and four times it slipped out of the hook because it was too heavy until it eventually slipped under the water as bubbles came up and it breathed its last breath

It was in the moment rough and in retrospect funny. I hate that it was wasted, but glad no one was hurt. It was kind of a dicey cover up and it could have been worse. Maybe if I had the super Mario brothers 3 frog suit, I would have gone in after it
