I don’t know if anyone has been recently but there seems to be a lot of spots inside the aquarium where it’s leaking. Does anyone know what’s going on with that?

Hi everyone!!

I’m am a 23f moving to Galveston this coming weekend for school. I’ve never been on my own and have never really explored the island, so I was hoping some locals could give me some recommendations on activities or restaurants to try!

I’m really into scenic stuff (bird watching, being by the water, etc), physical activities (hiking, yoga and Pilates), and mind soothing activities (pottery, painting, music, puzzles, reading).

As far as taste in food, I don’t really like seafood 😭 but I’m open to trying anything!

Hopefully I can find some recommendations or even better…some mutuals! :)

How is the sargassum situation? We went a few months ago, and the smell was quite overwhelming.

Is this the best food on the island. Had dinner there recently and was really impressed.

If you're on the East End check out the Elissa coming back to home port. I just found out about this otherwise I'd be down there. A good viewing spot to avoid the crowds in the Pier 21 area would be out near east beach at the end of the Seawall at old Ft San Jacinto. East Beach is probably getting a pretty good show right about now. Found a webcam that looks east over the Royal Carib terminal. It should be visible on here in maybe 30 minutes or so. Hi I am going to be traveling with a group in the near future. I’m sure the answer is likely no, but are there any tourist type stores in Galveston that for sure sell any of the typical souvenir kinda t shirts in plus sizes, like a 3x-6x? I told them I would at least look online and see. Couldn’t hurt to ask. If there are, I would like to know which spots to recommend to them. Thanks!

I’m pretty sure they’re trying to arrest people who buy illegal products even though they’re selling lol

ETA: when I said feds I don’t actually mean the federal gov I meant the local police are staking the place. Funny enough after this post I haven’t seen a cop there posted anymore. 🥴

BEWARE: Scam Operations, Hostage Tactics, and Terrible Work ​Do not bring your vehicle to Kayser Automotive unless you want to be scammed and stripped of your money. ​They kept my truck for over five days under the guise of repairing it. Once they supposedly fixed the part, they immediately started tacking on fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my bill. When I realized what they were doing and told them to lower my vehicle because I was towing it straight to Nissan, they literally tried to hold my truck hostage. To make matters worse, I found out they had illegally moved and stored my vehicle at a completely different location without my permission. ​The management and staff are an absolute nightmare to deal with: ​The Owner/Manager: An arrogant, rude asshole who had the nerve to tell me I was "not being patient" while they held my vehicle and inflated my bill. ​The Front Desk: Completely clueless about her basic job responsibilities. She couldn't answer simple questions and spent the entire time texting and calling the boss for every single detail. ​After finally getting my truck away from them, I took it to a trusted local mechanic. He refused to even touch it after hearing it came from Kayser Automotive, telling me horror stories about their business practices. He warned me that they deliberately sabotage vehicles and perform atrocious work on purpose just to force you into a desperate situation so they can drain your wallet. ​This shop is dishonest, predatory, and completely unethical. Save yourself the stress, money, and damage to your vehicle—stay as far away from Kayser Automotive as possible.

Planning on making a trip down tomorrow and trying to figure out where to go to get the best grilled/broiled seafood. Any suggestions?

Me and mine are here tonight and want to walk on the beach with flashlights at low tide. Looking for somewhere natural where no one will bother us or mind.
