Never tire of the elaborate houses here
I'd spend most of the day in that top balcony yelling "You there!" at passersby.
Drainage Engineer
Looking for a drainage engineer who can help without a permit for a residential home. Have had required surveyed done but the city is requiring a drainage plan signed off by a Texas PE. Any recommendations out there?
Restaurants hiring?
Hello everybody! Does anyone know of or work at any restaurants that are looking for waiters or bartenders? Thanks for the help and stay safe in this rain!
A shrimp boat has been stranded on Crystal Beach for days
The Buccaneer got stuck near Crystal Beach at the end of shrimping season. Now crowds are showing up daily as crews try to figure out whether the boat can be saved.
Electric Plan/Usage
Hey everyone, I will be moving to Galveston later this summer and I am looking for an electric plan. My main question is how many kwh will I use? I have a small less than 500 sqft apartment. I know insulation and AC efficiency among other things will impact usage but on average how much energy should I plan for. I know to look for constant rates.
I am contemplating 500 or 1000 kwh plans
Thanks for all your help!!
Alligators and Dogs
Hello, my fiancé and I are looking at relocating near the area. We got a job offers in Hitchcock and are looking at different places in the area to rent. How real is the threat to my dogs in the different bodies of water near here? One of the major reasons we're looking at relocating is to be closer to water. We found a few rentals on the canals closer to work that have their own dock and in my brain that seems like a blast for the dogs, but after a quick google search now I'm worried. We are also looking at the Island or Bayou vista area or even possibly Texas City. I see many reddit posts saying all these places suck and to look at League city. I would really appreciate any suggestions or insight on good locations to look. We really want to prioritize being walking distance to water to really experience the lifestyle while renting for a year or two before we put down some real roots.
Trip planned next week and weather looking not so good. Should I cancel?
Was hoping to take the kids to the beach and to hit up pleasure pier one day but the forecast isn't looking too good. I currently live in North Texas and have never been. Should I just cancel? I really don't want to spend the entire time indoors.

Sea Isle Pier pass
Pass needed!! Last year we rented a house and it came with a gate card to the Sea Isle Pier by the West End Marina. Will be back this July and the house we are renting doesn’t have access. My son and I had a blast and he really wants to fish again this summer. Does anyone know how I might “rent” one for the week? I called the management company and they were no help.
Spending week on Galveston
Hello everyone! My wife and I are headed to Galveston for a week (this Monday- Sunday) and will be staying 20 blocks from pleasure pier for reference.
My wife is wrapping up a couple days of radiation at the League City clinic. We are coming in from Austin so we figured it would be fun to stay in Galveston and bring the dogs for the week!
We are looking for any recs this week- restaurants, things to do, and best beaches to check out/tips and tricks on when to go etc. since it is going to be a holiday weekend.
Thank you in advance!
Missing Brother- last seen in Galveston
Trying to locate my brother Chris (Christopher), last known to be in Galveston, TX. We have not heard from him since 4/17, which is unusual — especially because he did not contact our mother on Mother’s Day.
He is unhoused and may not currently have access to his phone. He is about 5’7”, slim build, blue eyes, dirty blond/light brown hair, usually with facial hair.
If anyone has seen him recently or knows he is safe, please message me. We are very worried about him.

Schlitterbahn Guide
Hello, I’m planning a little vacation with fiancé and I’m just looking for any advice on how to plan a trip to Schlitterbahn and what to bring. Also how is it currently experience wise? I know it’s busy with people about this time but are all the rides open or is their stuff to avoid etc…? Again just looking for advice to plan for.
Thanks in Advance!
Are they ever going to do anything with the abandoned Hooters?
Random thought lol
Has there been any chatter at all about what that might become and when??
