Should I get my car checked?

First time encountering this so I’m not really sure kung ano dapat gawin ko para macheck kung may damage sa kotse

Last night, I was going through Mindanao Avenue. Nasa 2nd lane ako (counting from inner-most lane), and Ang harap ko ay isang malaking truck, approx. 10 wheeler. Huminto lane namin and yung inner-most lane kasi gagawa ng u-turn yung truck sa harap ko. We also came to a full stop since May mga nag u-turn din from oncoming traffic. So habang nag u-turn yung truck, sumabog yung outer back most right wheel niya, and visibly may mga maliliit na debris na lumipad and umabot sa windshield ko. I didn’t hear any noise from my car, pero Sobrang lakas ng putok ng gulong niya so possible na meron pero hindi ko lang narinig. I was about 2 car lengths behind the truck when this happened

Chineck ko naman yung harap ng car ko pagdating sa bahay, no visible damage naman. Pero just wanted to make sure and see if kailangan ko bang ipacheck sa casa or mekaniko?

Wind load of mounting accessories used by installers

Just wanted to ask those who have already had their solar panels installed: do you know the wind load rating of the mounting clamps, brackets, and railings used by your installers?

Planning on having solar panels installed on my house and warehouse. I’m just concerned about the quality of the mounting brackets, railings, and clamps that installers use when they install solar panels. I’ve done some research and saw that the safe and regulated wind load here in metro Manila is 60m/s (please correct me if I am wrong).

Now I tried asking the installers I’ve been in talks with, but most of the people I’ve been talking to responded with either they don’t know or they have to find out from their logistics/technical team. It has already taken several business days and they are still not giving me the rated wind load despite several follow ups. Also have asked for the contact numbers of those personnel from their companies who may know the answer, but they also said they have to check.

I called suppliers of these mounting accessories, and a handful of them are selling those that are rated for only 45m/s. This is alarming for me since Marami tayong mga bagyo na malalakas ang dulot na hangin taon taon, so safety is one of my top priorities.

For context, the installers I am in talks with are the better-known ones here in metro Manila.

Thanks for those who can help!

Driving along curved roads seem to be such a challenge for some

The photo is the southbound lane of EDSA, just across SM North (from Google Maps street view). Whenever I pass through here, people just don’t know how to drive along a curved road.

Just because it’s curved people can’t stay on their lane anymore? Para bang naliligaw na ba sila sa linya nila dahil lang kurbada? The lanes are clearly marked, yet cars beside you on your left would cut into your lane. Hindi ba nila kayang gawing mas wide yung liko nila to match their lane markings. And then they have the audacity to honk bank when I honk at them because they’re about to hit me while they are unknowingly already crossing into my lane when they’re right beside me.

Some people just know how to press their brake and accelerator pedals and call it a day. Daming bobong tao sa kalsada. Simpleng pagsunod na lang sa linya along a curve hirap pa. Really no hope for Philippine drivers. I’ve driving for over a decade already, and most road users are just as dumb or even worse. Please drive properly.

There is absolutely no hope for any kind of improvement when it comes to the quality of motorists

I’ve been driving for over a decade now, and it’s just the same driving manners still present ever since I started. I’m not saying I’m perfect. Sure, I’ve made plenty of mistakes, but I try my best to be a decent and respectful road user.

Here’s a list of the things I find most stupid and absurd that both drivers and riders do on the road. I don’t care if I hurt your feelings or downvote me. I said what I said.

  1. NOT LINING UP

No, I’m not talking about paying to go out of parking slots. I’m talking about flyovers, underpasses, left turns, right turns. When you know you’re taking the flyover or underpass along EDSA, LINE UP ON THE TWO INNER LANES. YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO CUT INTO THE QUEUE RIGHT BEFORE THE STRUCTURE. THAT’S NLT CALLED MERGING. If you’re already on the lane that’s going to the service road, too late. Go to the service road. No, it’s not called merging. Merging is when the number of lanes reduces. CLEARLY, THE NUMBER OF LANES OF EDSA DO NOT BECOME FEWER WHEN APPROACHING UNDERPASSES OR FLYOVERS. THEY JUST SPLIT. SO LINE UP. The same goes for other major roads like quezon avenue, but nothing beats EDSA.

The same instance, but for designated left/right turn lanes. YOU ALREADY KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING. SO LINE UP ON THE PROPER LANE TO THE DIRECTION YOU ARE TURNING TO. I don’t care if the lanes going straight are empty. IF THE LANE TO TURN LEFT IS LONG, LINE UP. YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO USE ANOTHER LANE DESIGNATED FOR GOING STRAIGHT TO TURN.

  1. NOT BEING PATIENT AND CONSTANT CHANGING OF LANES

We all know how infuriating and annoying PUVs are when they stop on the outermost lane. Especially when they don’t stop on proper PUV stops. However, when they do stop to pick up or drop off passengers, JUST SUCK IT UP AND WAIT FOR A FEW SECONDS. If it’s taking long, change lanes PROPERLY. YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO CHANGE LANES THE EXACT SECOND THEY STOP. I DO NOT CARE IF YOU HAD YOUR SIGNAL LIGHTS ON. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHANGE LANES SAFELY. FIND A SAFE GAP. Yeah, it’s annoying to have those PUVs suddenly stop in front of you. But can’t you wait just for a few seconds? Especially if you see it’s just a few people getting on/off? If it’s taking long, change lanes safely. It’s not the obligation of the cars/motorcycles on the lane you’re changing to to fully stop for you. Find a safe gap. A lot of us are so impatient. Adding a few seconds won’t kill you. Learn to be patient, or at the very least, learn to look at your side mirrors and do a shoulder check.

  1. COUNTERFLOWING

Self explanatory. Dumbasses who use the excuse “wala namang dumadaan eh, sayang naman yung kalsada kung Hindi natin gamitin”. Sayang rin ulo mo, walang nakakabit na utak.

But the more annoying ones are the motorcycles. See the solid white/yellow line separating the lanes for the oncoming traffic? YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO STEP ON THOSE OR GO BEYOND IT. Daming mga motor pumapasok na sa kabilang lane tapos kung malapit nang matamaan, sila pa may lakas bumisina. Tapos kung businahan naman sila, sila pa galit. Literally low lives. I said what I said.

  1. LEFT TURNS AND U-TURNS

Most people do not know how to properly make a left turn, especially in smaller intersections. They immediately turn their steering wheel left, which results in them going against the oncoming traffic when they turn. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PULL FORWARD A BIT MORE THEN TURN THE WHEEL.

When it comes to u-turns, almost every single driver slightly swerves right first before cranking their wheel to the left so as to not hit the curb. Sure, that’s one thing you can do. A better thing to do is to GO FORWARD A BIT MORE THEN CRANK YOUR WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT. By doing that, YOU WON’T BE COMING INTO THE LANE NEXT TO YOU.

ARALIN NIYO ULI PAANO LUMIKO.

But of course, if the turn or u-turn is really tight, then we have no choice.

  1. KEEPING INTERSECTIONS OPEN

I do not understand why people keep flashing their lights or keep honking their horns when I don’t cross the intersection when the light is green. I drive a 2023 Camry. It’s a pretty low/small car so I’m sure the people behind me can see the situation in front. Learn some decency and keep intersections open. It is because of these types of people why gridlocks happen. Pilit nang pilit tapos sila pa magagalit kung binubusinahan na sila kasi hinaharangan yung intersection.

  1. TAILGATING AND PROPER BRAKING DISTANCE.

I don’t drive on expressways much, but when I do, it’s like people do not realize they’re driving over 2 tons of steel that need time to come to a halt. I always drive on the cruising lane since I avoid the overtaking lane as much as possible (almost all of the videos showing back-end collisions are on the overtaking lane). But even along the cruising lane, people still tailgate like they’re running out of road to use. Not just cars, but big ass trucks especially along SLEX. Just because their trailer is empty, they feel like they can immediately stop what they’re driving. Tapos kapag bigla kang prumeno at binangga ka sa likod, sila pa galit. Sasabihan ka ng “bakit ka naman kasi biglang huminto?” What in the world are these drivers on? LEAVE PROPER BRAKING SPACE.

  1. PULLING OUT TO THE MAIN ROAD

When you are about to enter the main road from a side street, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO YIELD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. Almost everyday people just turn into the main round without giving a fuck about the oncoming cars. Can’t you wait to find a safe gap? Cars going around 40-50kph are going to have to go to a full stop just because of an idiot who can’t wait to pull out properly. Then once the idiot is already on the main road, they’re going to take forever to match the speed of the other cars, causing yet another phantom traffic jam.

  1. DRIVING HABITS

I often hear people say “Ang mahal ng crudo ngayon, grabe. Sakit sa bulsa kapag nagpapagas”. At the same time, this is how they drive. They floor the pedal to get going then immediately hit the brakes because traffic has already built up a few hundred meters in front. Or, an even funnier thing, they accelerate like crazy and switch lanes then overtake you and proceeds to switch back to your lane in front of you because you’re cruising to a red light. But you just end up behind them at the next intersection. I really do not get it. You accelerate aggressively even though you already see cars moving slowly or are already stopped, knowing you’re gonna have to hit the brakes right after pressing the accelerator pedal. Then you proceed to complain about gas prices.

How about you fix your driving style first. Yeah, gas prices were crazy a few months ago and it’s still a bit high today. But we cannot do anything about that. What we can change though is our driving habit. Maybe try cruising, but don’t cruise to the point where you’re holding up traffic. Just the right amount.

Well, I’ve said what I said. If I get downvoted to oblivion, it’s probably because I made your feelings hurt.

But there’s always tomorrow to improve our driving skills. Let us all try our best to be proper drivers and riders, so that one day, our roads won’t be the hellhole it is.

Are these shops legit/safe to buy from?

Starting to begin my Pokemon collection and found some shops where I can buy from (hopefully at decent prices). Just wanted to ask those who are familiar if these shops are trustworthy/safe to buy from? Won’t be able to go to these stores in person since I live a bit far.

- Torch Nest
- Aqua Card Games / Uni Aqua Hobbies
- JapStore PH Cards & Hobbies
- ARKEN CardZone
- Hobby Stadium

Thanks!
