Community-Oriented Handyman (Sliding Scale Available)

Hey everyone, I just moved back to the Valley after living in Texas for a bit.

I'm posting this because I'm working on getting my handyman and painting business started back up.

To get my name out there and get some bookings on the schedule, I am offering "pay-what-you-want" handyman services, for a limited time, probably for the next month or so, or until my schedule fills up.

Obviously, you will still need to pay for materials, and I will turn down any offers that don't make sense (ie "Will you paint my house for $100 a room?"). I also don't do landscaping or gutters.

However, if you need trim or drywall fixed, have a small painting project, or have a to-do list you can't get to, give me a call and we can figure something out.

I want to help people with repairs they need but don't have the money for, or can't do themselves. And if you have the budget to pay my going rate and you want to support a local contractor who loves this town, by all means!

I especially love to help seniors, people who are disabled, and people who just need a hand.

Also, I know money is tight for a lot of folks right now, so this is my way of giving back, and providing an affordable service to the various communities here in the Valley.

I live in Easthampton, and I'm reallt happy to be back. I've only been back for a few weeks now and I am continually meeting kind and friendly people here. I'm really happy to be back here and look forward to being active in the community.

So, to summarize, I can't take every job, but if I can help you and I'm not losing money by taking the job, I will make every effort to help you.

Thanks for reading.

You can reach me via dm or call/text me at ‪(413) 282- 8637‬.

Seeking Natural Spring to Fill Up Water Jugs

The water in my apartment is green and I'm tired of paying to buy water at the grocery store.

Are there any public taps or spigots near Easthampton or in the Valley?

Thank you!

Need Help Pricing Failing Deck Fix for Elderly Client

Hey guys, I went out to look at a small deck that looks to have some serious structural problems. The lady whose house it is said she's been unable to find a contractor. I'm guessing that might be because the deck should probably be torn down and rebuilt.

She wants the structural parts of the deck fixed, siding out on, and a door or two installed, with a couple of plexiglass windows. Oh yeah and she wants a weather barrier layer between the top deck boards and the shed below the deck.

When I asked her about her budget she said, "Well, I don't want to pay ten or fifteen thousand dollars for this." She did mention she has the money set aside for this project.

She's nice, I want to help her. The problem is appealing because I've never fixed a deck like this. As far as skill level—I know I'm going to get roasted here—I'm a handyman with three years of experience.

My approach to this would to take it slow and methodical, design out the fix, look up what kind of jacks I need to hold up the deck while I replace the 3 posts and at least one beam.

Am I nuts and probably, naive? It's likely. That's why I'm posting here ie to get a reality check.

I just moved and everything is expensive as hell so I'm eager to take this job and get some money coming in. I will definitely have her sign a contract, and get milestone payments up front. I'm insured.

I'm also maybe an idiot but I will leave it for you guys to decide.

To sum it all up, my questions are:

is this a tear down?

Is it worth fixing?

What *should* something like this cost?

Cheapest Dump for Mattress in Hampshire or Franklin county?

move back to the area and picked up a free mattress on Facebook marketplace. Didn't realize that the mattress is super smoky and gross and I should probably just take it to the dump and find a different one.

What town has the cheapest dump fee for a queen mattress and a box spring?

i'm in Easthampton. I think it's $80-$100 per mattress and maybe for the boxspring too.

any advice appreciated. if you are getting rid of a queen mattress and a boxspring(and it's not smoky and gross) and are in the area please let me know!

Looking to rent an room or 1bd/studio apt in Greenfield (starting 7/1)

Hi! My name is Alex. I’m a 40 year-old handyman and contractor, currently living in Dallas, TX. Cis-male (he/him), straight, queer ally.

I have a good credit score(~700), references, and rental history if needed.

I don’t drink or smoke, and lead a quiet lifestyle. I like to cook, and often offer food to roommates. As a roommate, I do my best to keep things clean, keep my stuff in my room, and contribute towards a peaceful and calm environment.

As far as hobbies, I like to walk the various rail trails, make art, skateboard, and hang out with my friends.

I'm familiar with the area as I've lived in Easthampton and Belchertown in the past, and have also worked for a couple of businesses in the area.

As far as what I'm seeking, here's a short list. None of these are dealbreakers.

- Would prefer to be able to walk or bike to downtown Greenfield

- Some modest amount of storage on first floor for tools (some shed space would be fine)

- W/d on premises or in-unit

If you have a room, apartment, or sublet for rent in the $700-1300 range, please send me a dm and we can talk.

Thank you!

- Alex
