dinner meet up?
hello! i’ve been vegan for 6+ years and have never hungout with a group of vegan friends before so i thought i’d try to plan something. there’s a vegan restaurant called love organic cafe in west hollywood and i thought it’d be nice to have a small (at most 7-8 people because i don’t want to stress the place out) dinner there. being vegan can feel isolating in a city full of mostly non-vegan people so im hoping this could help! wondering if anyone would be interested. aiming for the second or third week of july :-)
some other restaurants im considering are salaya (thai town), pura vita (west hollywood), or maciels (highland park, take out instead of dine in because the inside space is small).
EDIT: so many people responded and that makes me so happy!! for now, i’d like to close replies so i can work with organizing the people who expressed that they would like to come. im planning to make a group chat today after work :) thanks so much for the feedback!
!!update!! : im restricted from sending more invites because my account is newer so please private message me for the details and if that doesnt work i can email you the restaurant, date, and time!
saucy yum
yay it’s friday! this takes a little bit of effort to make but i make this dish quite often, this time i added vegan ground meat into the sauce! it’s based off the burmese dish shan noodles except i add tamarind paste & chili soybean paste! also that is air-fried chickpea tofu at the top of the plate. hidden rice noodles underneath heh
why do people lie about being vegan
So about a year ago, a very close friend of mine started dating this guy and said he is vegan. I met him shortly after they got together and his first words to me were “so you’re vegan or whatever?” which i thought was kind of an odd way to ask lol but he then told me he had been vegan for about 8 years. fast forward, my partner(who is also vegan) and i went camping with them and we brought lots of vegan food but one of the nights, we see this dude munching on hot cheetos (literally the cheetos brand) and brownies from trader joes (that contain egg). partner and i are just convinced this guy is indenial that he’s vegetarian & calls himself vegan for personality points or something lmao. it’s just so odd to me that some people see it as a trend rather than a lifestyle :(. there have been a couple instances where i thought i met a fellow vegan just to find out theyre actually vegetarian :|. rant done but i think it’s so lameeee ugh… 😔
