Is trying to be historically accurate worth the time?

So I'm writing a novel set around WW1 and as a historical fiction story it necessarily lands itself to a LOT of research. However, I see all these vaguely historical books (like Bridgerton), which really hardly try to be historical. Then there's actual historical novels like Jane Austen's works.

I guess I just have reached the point where I wonder if doing all this research to be "accurate" is worth it. Are readers really going to know or care if something is "right"?

Edit:

Okay clearly I worded this post badly but wow some people are rude AF.

I am not trying to avoid the work or saying it's not needed or anything like that. I was really just wonder if spending all this time on research would pay off. General consensus is yes.

Also, I didn't really realize historical romance and historical fiction were different so again badly worded on my part.

White Soup from the Regency Era?

As Max has already done a few Jane Austen related videos I think it'd be really cool if he did white soup. No idea really what it is but this quote "As for the ball, it is quite a settled thing; and as soon as Nicholls has made white soup enough, I shall send round my cards." Has made me want to know more about it since the first time I read it.

Maybe he could discuss having supper at balls or not (as comes up in Emma by Jane Austen). Something like that I think could make a cool video.

Please help can this be blocked out or should I frog it??

Blankets are Evil.

So I always swore I'd never make another blanket after making one for a pair of friends who got married. Well, they had a baby, and I decided to make him a blanket and...yeah these are just evil. Is it possible to block this out so it isn't so bad? Because the idea of frogging half this blanket makes me want to cry.

Anyone else actually like Emma?

Like the title says. I know a lot of people really don't like her, especially because of what she does to Harriet and Mr. Martin.

However, as I'm on another read through, I can't help but feel kind of bad for her. Yes, she's out of touch AF and definitely in the wrong in a lot of ways. BUT in my opinion, she's really set up to be this sheltered, naive sort of person with a very limited view of life.

Her closest companions are an indulgent hypochondriac of a father who though loving is probably even more out of touch than her and Miss Taylor/Mrs. Weston, who Austen pretty well paints as equally indulgent and unlikely to see any faults with Emma. Her only source of pushback is Mr. Knightley, whom she is more likely to ignore and joke with than take serious instruction from.

So you end up with this rich, lonely, sheltered girl who is really just trying to fill a gap. Yes, she was wrong for the way she went about it, but I actually really feel for her. She just wanted a friend to fill her time where Mrs. Weston once was.

She's out of touch and in the wrong, but I feel bad for her.

I mean she didn't have the benefit of going places or seeing anyone really beyond a small number of local people who didn't actually belong to the same social circle. I find it pretty easy to see why she makes so many missteps she really hasn't had much practice in society past those limited meetings.

So yeah she's spoiled and out of touch and needed to grow up but I really like her.

Okay, I'm looking for vacuum recs for my mother. She has a Eureka and says it doesn't pick up anything and takes forever to get a space vacuumed, so she wants to return it.

Price range: $200 or less

Wants: Corded unless their is an amazing cordless that picks up really well.

We have two kids in the house, no pets, but a lot of dirt gets tracked in. There's also lots of narrow spaces we need to get to.

It's a birthday dinner for a 12 year old, so kid friendly environment is preferred. Looking for more tex mex options but open to more traditional food too. She wants enchiladas so if you know a good place for those xD
