Connor Mcnutt appreciation thread

Everyone post their favourite contribution or bit that he has added to the pod. I’m tired of everyone acting like he only contributes unfunny one-liners and breaks up the flow of the pod. That’s not true so everyone drop their fave bit of his

My favourite one lately is when the guys were talking about the Tom Segura and Christina P divorce, and Devan says “rest in peace to their marriage” and then Connor responds “yeah man” that cracked me the hell up!

Let’s go. Everyone post their faves!

Joey’s bit about how stolen valour guys are actually better fighters than real military guys is really funny

It’s also objectively true

I’m I the only one who thinks jackass sucks?

It was great when I was 13, but those guys all suck and are total hacks

Devan being so into it is embarrassing

Has anyone else listened to The Elephant Graveyard Radio Hour Ep.11 an excessive amount of times?

I’ve probably listened to it once a day for the last 5 months

Anyone else, or is this just a symptom of growing up without an uncle?

Why do the Backrooms bother Devan so much?

I was listening to the pod at work this evening and I found it interesting how Devan was so vehemently against the Backrooms movie. I was honestly surprised that it seemed like Ben and Jace liked the movie while Devan had nothing but criticism for it

It got me thankin

Why would Devan think this movie is so bad?
Let’s think about this for a minute. There are actually a ton of parallels between Devan and Clark in the movie

It’s a movie about a guy who recently got out of a long term relationship which ultimately ended because of his inability to take accountability for his actions

He is an alcoholic

He won’t take accountability

He won’t try to better himself in any way

And worst of all he blames all of these things on exterior circumstances instead of looking within and taking any responsibility for his behaviour

The climax of the movie is when Clark admits that he likes being alone and that he doesn’t want to change himself or any of his actions. This leads to his destruction.

When someone carries that exact mindset in real life, blaming external circumstances, an ex-partner, or a job for their misery, then the movie would feel like a personal attack. Devin’s aggressive, negative critique of the movie likely isn't about the film's pacing or lighting; it is a subconscious deflection. To admit the movie is powerful, accurate, or insightful would force Devin to acknowledge the ugly truth of the protagonist they resemble.

Then at the end of the episode he goes on a rant about how there’s no genuine expression left in art and culture and how everything and everyone is fake. Meanwhile he can’t see far enough past his own issues to enjoy this movie which is exactly that.

And yes Clark the Pirate looks like Scotty Pippen. Very good.

Had to turn this ep off at 35 minutes

Is Devan trying to be unfunny as possible? Thought this would be great not having Mcbutt around, but holy it’s like he’s trying to be as assnoying and unfunny as possible, while having the most dogshit takes

Also 20 dollar a week in bitcoin, really?

EDIT: I am finishing the ep. I may have been tired and cranky. Sorry Devan.

Does it feel like everything is getting worse at a faster rate than ever?

It feels like everything that is good and proper is being degraded at an alarming rate. I’m 30 and even in the last year I feel like everything is degrading it quality, while becoming more expensive?

Everything that is supposed to matter is becoming less and less important, and things that shouldn’t matter are being shoved into the spotlight more and more

It feels like we’re a tiny planet that’s been orbiting a black hole and is slowly getting sucked in and everything is being warped to fit the reality of whatever makes sense on the other side of the hole

I don’t know what to do besides ignore it all and try to find some peace with my dogs and wife

I guess I’ll just listen to the EGRH Episode 11 for the 75th thousand time

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday

I’m putting my money on a new EG post coming out tomorrow morning

I have a gut feeling we’re getting a new exploration this week

Don’t ask why

Also I watched the master this week. Does anyone in here any any thoughts about it?
