14-hour SVO layover, can I visit Red Square?

Landing at SVO Terminal C at 9:05am, then flying SVO → Kazan at 8:15pm from Terminal B.

Thinking of going into Moscow for a few hours to see Red Square. I’ll have about €50 cash and plan to exchange some for rubles.

Is this realistic? Any suggestions on the easiest/cheapest way to get to Red Square and back? Anything else worth seeing nearby? It will be my first time in Russia.

Cathay Pacific denied EU261 claim for missed connection on EU-origin itinerary. Worth escalating?

Hi everyone,
Looking for insight from people familiar with EU261, missed connections, or Cathay Pacific claims.
I had a single-ticket itinerary originating from Brussels. My original return route was Manila → Hong Kong → Brussels on Cathay Pacific.

Flight CX902 (Manila → Hong Kong) was significantly delayed due to what Cathay later described as “various reasons, also including Airport Operations,” while also stating that repairs took longer than expected. Because of the delay, I missed my Hong Kong → Brussels connection and was eventually rerouted through different flights, arriving in Brussels roughly 22 hours later than scheduled.

Before departure from Manila, I proactively contacted Cathay customer service and even pointed out that there were other Manila → Hong Kong flights still operating that night, but I was told rerouting could only be handled after arrival in Hong Kong.
Cathay has now denied compensation, arguing:
EU261 does not apply because the disrupted segment departed outside Europe on a non-EU carrier.

Airport/government operational restrictions were involved. However, my understanding is that there may be ECJ jurisprudence covering missed connections on a single EU-origin booking even when operated by a non-EU airline.

Has anyone successfully challenged a similar denial with Cathay or through Belgian/EU authorities? Would escalation realistically be worth pursuing?
