Bottom layer of hair does not stayed curled

Hi everyone, I have recently been styling my hair using a round blow dry brush. I prime beforehand with a primer and heat protectant spray. I have naturally straight hair. I use a basic shampoo and conditioner as I cannot use ones with perfume because I have scalp eczema.

I first blow dry my hair about 80% dry using a regular hair dryer. I have quite thick hair so I then section it in a top and bottom layer for using the round brush. I start with the bottom layer, let it cool, and put hair spray in it. I then continue with the top layer in the same manner.

The top layers stay curled for 2 days, but the bottom layer is straight after literally 1-2 hours. What can I do to prevent this? Photos are 1 hour after styling, photo 1 is top layer and photo 2 bottom layer.

Knit fabric is twisted/warped, what to do?

I bought this knit 100% cotton terry fabric to make a robe, but the fabric is twisted/warped on the selvedge (see picture). It was already like this before pre washing. What do I do? Is this fixable? For a robe I wouldn’t mind cutting off grain a bit but with this stripe pattern I doubt it will look good that way…
