Using Reverie and Shavronne's Satchel with a nice life flask solves defensive layer + opens up ability to cast using life instead of mana. This also allows using things like Mana Tempest and Zenith II with 100% uptime. As you can see even in a fairly juicy map with less recovery I can smash into mobs and not die. Bossing is also solved by Chronomancer with a little investment in weapon set II you can time freeze bosses for long enough that they'll be dead well before they can move.
