GLP 1 Discussions and Our Community

(Updated below)

Hey Everyone,

The time has come to ask for your input as to how we handle discussions surrounding GLP 1s. Basically, this is a grey area in the ED world. Do we heavily censor the topic as being pro-ED? Do we allow free commentary/discussions?

At the moment, I feel it's dangerous to allow people to recommend it as a fix/cure for their ED and to pass that information along as "helpful". I've been removing those posts because none of us knows the history or situation of any one individual. While it may legitimately help one ED sufferer, it would be lethal in the hands of others. Purely from a protecting the group standpoint, I made a rule banning this kind of suggestion. (I think a case could be made it also falls under pro-ED or weight loss advice).

How would you like the topic moderated? An example that comes up: someone here was recommended a GLP 1 by their Doctor, and they're upset about it. Do we want these posts to stand? The risk of course, will be the incoming comments of "Hey, I'm on one and love it". Similar vent posts are just about the ubiquitous nature of them..do we just let people vent? Do we allow people to say they are taking them illicitly and vent about that?

Would a "GLP 1" trigger tag be helpful/worthless? I'm not sure how best to navigate the topic. I don't want to become the censor police but want to honor the overall wishes of people here. Any input is welcome-thank you!

Update: Thank you SO much for the feedback. Everyone makes valid points and its clear the issue isn't cut and dry. I've added a regular flair "GLP 1" to use when someone wants to post about this topic. Will monitor any unsolicited advice (where someone isn't inquiring about them, but it's being suggested to them as means for controlling weight). Appreciate all of you.

GLP-1's and history of small bowel obstruction?

Anyone taking a GLP-1 with a previous small bowel obstruction? Was there concern or difficulty obtaining the Rx because of your history? What's your experience been taking them?

17 miles today -that's a record for me

Stepwise it's 39,999 steps (I'm going to get that last step and hit 40k)

Combined with 14.2 yesterday, that makes for 31 miles in two days !!

Sitting on couch with over 10 miles walked and its only 2pm. Thinking of going for 15

It got rainy and I came inside to bake. There's too much day left to not go for more. Anyone doing a long walk today? I did over 14 yesterday and would like today to at least be the same.

"I thought you were a runner"

A man, maybe 10 years my senior, was walking with his stick around the same beach i was walking at. We kept pace for maybe 2 miles and then a big staircase that leads up the bluff had people walking slowly. I knew i had the leg muscles and beat everyone around me climbing to the top The walking stick man found me again at the top and he said "you walk really fast you're a good challenge for me. We continued to pace each other and he arrived at his house. He said he likes to get 10000 steps in and asked how much i walk...i told him May has been a little obsessive but close to 10 mile daily average.
He asked if all I did was walk? And I said yes. And that's when he said, "i thought you were a runner!

As someone who has been walking so hard this month, it felt like a compliment I didn't know I needed

edit: typo

179,395 steps this week

Screw psych meds- give this old lady a trail. A lot of anxiety burned along the way- feels better than the start of the week.
