Hot take: Most romance animes nowadays are boring and repetitive
In my opinion, modern romance animes are getting more and more repetitive. Always the same highschool setup, the guy is a normal/mid guy with no special things and somehow suddenly falls for a girl with some special tropes. To be clear, some are good, I'm not saying that all of them are bad, but most of them aren't enjoyable. I feel like many of the older titles such as "Love is war" or "darling in the franxx" bring more joy as they have the 1 thing i find lacking in modern romance: Tension.
like in most romance rn, there's literally little to no exciting elements except for just the fanservice and the random confessing scenes. I feel like the older titles are so enjoyable because of this part, and that's what make them still good to this day.
There's also too much fanservice rn, i can't really get myself to watch most romance shows nowadays. with that said, i still find some good ngl, but most are just repeated recipes.
what are your opinions ? I feel like the older titles just have some special elements in it that keep me rooting for them no matter how long ago it was.
