The World's Thousand Best Short Stories/Masterpiece Library of Short Stories. anyone know anything about these?

I just collected these gorgeous short story compendiums for free, and i cant find any dates anywhere in the books. it seems like these are special editions made after the original publication (which seems to be 1904 based on what i can find online?). i know very little about this kind of thing, so any help would be appreciated!

How do cults refer to/name themselves internally?

Sorry if this is against the general purpose of this subreddit, but i need writing help. im writing up some details on a fictional cult for a sci-fi/eldritch horror setting, and part of this setting is a cult dedicated to expanding your own intelligence in an attempt to bring yourself closer to divinity. they do this through body augmentations intended to expand the brain's capacity, among other practices.

what i need is help figuring out two things: one, how do cults end up with the names that the general public refers to them as, and two how do cults end up referring to themselves internally? Im not exactly the most well versed in cults, so help from a community dedicated to them could be of use. thanks!

For those upset about last night's events

i do understand the frustration, however, watch this reel and tell me this doesnt sound like an incredible rivalry brewing. give it a chance.

taking Sami's underdog story and turning it into a "justified heel" gimmick is a great direction to go. it worked out for Drew, its worked out for other superstars before.

why is being a "mark" an insult?

i just dont get it. it refers to fans and their suspended disbelief, isnt that like, exactly what all of us are supposed to be? idk maybe im missing something

How would you handle a party wanting to/succeeding to revive one party member's dead previous pc

not an issue i've encountered yet but one i fear i may soon. had our first pc death in my campaign recently, and my players happen to currently have an easy path to get the diamonds necessary for a raise dead (or whatever that one 30 day rez spell is called).

the problem lies in that the dead player is coming back as a new character the following session. sorry-wise if my players have the means to revive this character, i see no fair way of preventing it, and see no reason they would have not to.

how would you tackle this?
