Hi everyone.

I’m trying to trace a BookCrossing book based on the official records.

A copy of Little Miss Jealous by Roger Hargreaves (I can provide a picture if needed) was released in Shepparton (Abernethy St. bus stop, Victoria, Australia) on 18 May 2013 by a user called “Kellygang” and has not been registered since.

I’m looking for any information about what might have happened to this specific copy.

Any insight would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

found in dad’s drawer

Family has no idea (none of us were ever musicians). We didn’t even know our dad had it.

Any possible info would be appreciated. It is kinda neat but all in German (which none of us speak).

Just picked this up today. A 1676 copy of in praise of folly. Some of these pictures are a hoot!

It is missing its front cover but it still has its bookmark, 350 years later, along with a paper receipt or something. Also, someone took it upon themselves to cut out the plates and paste them in, and color a few of them!

This is such a fun little find for only $35 :)

Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do!

Found what seems to be 1636 Book of Common Prayer in my neighborhood

My neighbor was getting rid of a pile of stuff and this was in it. It's in pretty rough condition. I don't know anything about old books, so I photographed it and ran the images through an AI and got this:

  • It seems to be a Book of Common Prayer, printed in London by Robert Barker, 1636
  • Bound together with a Geneva "Breeches" Bible (colophon dated 1599, but supposedly that date was reused for years?)
  • Maybe a metrical Psalter bound in too
  • Handwritten notes on the endpapers it called "17th-century Puritan theology"
  • A later inscription, "Leonard, January 1865," initials R.R.T.

Suggestions on what to do with it...

I really want to read this book but cant find it anywhere it says that it is under copyright protection so there is no E-book variant of it.

Librarian from 1880 library back again, brought some more goodies

I am now in charge of cataloging all the ancient texts!

As I get deeper into the vault, even older ones will reveal themselves, this is who I came across today.

This is interesting. I did an image search for a copy of Alice in Wonderland that I have and discovered several other titles with the same cover art. Anybody have any idea when these were published? Was reusing cover art a common practice back then?

1940 Birds of America, with art by ornithologist Louis Agassiz Fuertes (d. 1927)

Of note, the Carolina Parakeet must have been declared officially extinct before this edition was published.

Louis Agassiz Fuertes was a pretty interesting guy
