Introducing my very dapper boy

This is my boy, Monty! He is 8 years old, and we adopted him from a rescue when he was around 9 months :3

He is a very vocal man and absolutely loves cuddles. No matter what you are doing or how busy you are, you must have time to pet him or he will get in your way until you do.

Looking forward to seeing more tuxedo kitties like him!

Mr. Boogerboy

Hades had to face his arch nemesis today: the vet 😱

While he's been his normal active and sassy self, every time he'd rest he'd puff up and displayed some tail bobbing. I noticed his left nostril seemed like it may be swollen and a bit crusty as well. I wasn't sure if I was just over analysing him, but I booked him an appointment just to make sure.

The vet checked him over, thankfully his breathing was sounding normal and everything else looked a-okay however they confirmed that he did in fact have quite the swollen snoz. They flushed his left nare with saline and suctioned out some trapped debris and snot which under the microscope showed to be very bacteria filled.

Luckily I caught on early before the stuck bacteria ended up giving him a sinus or upper respiratory infection!!

Now I have to give the lil' trooper meloxicam as well as amoxicillin twice a day (with the cutest little syringes) to clear out that bad bacteria.

Safe to say: if your bird seems a bit off but you quite aren't sure if anything is actually wrong, it's always better to be safe than sorry and book a trip to the vets!

Do they actually use any cognitive thinking skills while deciding what funding you should get??

EDIT - very helpful people have made me understand better how NDIS works. I now know why some things weren't funded so I have to wait a bit until I can meet access for POTS. Other things will just need to be appealed and hope for the best.

Recently got my new plan after it was being rolled over for 8 years / since I was 10. I'm diagnosed with autism lvl2, POTS, severe generalised and social anxiety, ADHD, and HSD.

They removed funding for psychology and exercise physiology, and denied funding for assisted driving lessons, physio, dietitian and other supports that would help my independence. They did however fund most of my support into "finding and keeping a job". I cannot find and keep a job unless I am able to get my physical and mental up to a functional level.

My 44 page functional capacity report stated the detriment to my future independence and also my family's wellbeing if funding for psychology was removed. It explained how much POTS and HSD impact my every day living, making socialisation hard for me, leaving the house hard, being in society hard, and how funding for exercise physiology would be incredibly beneficial. It explained how I have tried driving lessons with normal instructors and it did not go well so specialised driving instructors would be beneficial for my independence. It explained how I function at less than the 1st percentile for my age in almost every aspect of life. It pointed out how I can only manage to get myself to shower maybe once a week, and I cannot keep up with any other forms of personal hygiene due to the impact POTS, ADHD, autism and the rest of them have on me.

And yet I'm expecting to be able to find and keep a job without any other support? Do they actually read the things they request for??? They said that what I need for POTS is medical so they won't cover anything for it, but Medicare and private health doesn't cover anything for it either. They said that my psychology is no longer for autism and only for anxiety so it's medical and can be covered (yeah, only 10 sessions a year).

I'm so terrified for my future, my mental health has been at its lowest, I get out of the house maybe twice a week when I have the energy to get to school, and now we cant afford anything that was actually helping me. How am I supposed to participate in finding and keeping a job when I can't participate in literally anything.

Is this piercing a thing?

I have been wanting more ear piercings for years and I was playing around drawing different options on my ear. One thing I came up with that I think looks sick is this one that I'm sharing.

I was wondering if there is a name for this kind of piercing or if it would even be possible. It's in the conch area but instead of going around the outside of the ear with a hoop, going straight through the inner hard cartilage and then through the outer squishy edge. Has anyone seen anything like this done before?

Dealing with losing the ability to do things I love.

I've never really vented before, I feel bad about doing it as there are always people worse off than me but I'm just really struggling to accept this fucking illness that I have to live with for the rest of my life.

I'm not a sedentary person. I've always wanted to be doing something, probably my ADHD wanting stimulation all the time. Every job I've ever wanted is a fast paced active job. I really wanted to be a firefighter or a police officer working with dogs however I can't do these things anymore due to my diagnosis. I love walking and hiking but I can't hike more than 10 minutes without having to sit down for a while because I feel so out of breath and get nauseous, overheat and have chest pains. I love bouldering but I can barely do one climb before I feel like I'm going to pass out. I've always loved working out and going to the gym, my dream is to get jacked and do weightlifting but if I go literally a slight bit heavier I feel faint. I used to do horse riding and loved it so much, but due to not being able to be active all the time and being 6 foot tall, I'm now too heavy to ride most horses, even though I'm a healthy weight. It's hard for me to even shower because standing up and bending up and down to clean myself is so tiring, but I feel like shit when I don't shower.

Because I can't do the things I want to do so badly I end up rotting in my bedroom, I don't keep up my hygiene and I barely go to school. I vape to feel better mentally, which I know isn't good for POTS but if I don't vape I self harm for some sort of mental stimulation. I cannot game or do schoolwork due to chronic back pain from hypermobility, and I can't get any sort of job because of my Autism and extreme anxiety, but I'm 18 now and I worry the older I get the harder it will be for me to get employed with no work experience.

I wear compression, I consume a lot of salt, I drink a lot of water, I'm on 180mg of Mestinon and 10mg of midodrine when necessary (as well as a shit tonne of other meds for mental issues). Most of my current depression and anxiety stem from not being able to do things, hang out with friends, being tired all the time etc. Nothing seems to help and it's just so hard to be happy and okay with the fact that I have to deal with this for the rest of my life and I can't do the things I love without feeling so ill. And yet I fortunately don't even pass out. My main problems are intense presyncope, brain fog, temperature regulation issues, chest pain, breathless etc etc but I'm not even that bad that I pass out, so I feel terrible that I'm sitting here feeling shit about myself when I could be so much worse.

Training my cockatiel to stop biting.

I have a 3 year old boy tiel' named Hades who is my pride and joy. I've had him since he was weened onto solids and I love him dearly. What I do not love is him biting my fingers so hard they bleed. Here is my problem:

I know he likes me and trusts me, he preens himself on me, sleeps on me, flies to me on command, he will step up most of the time with no problem, if he doesn't want to step up he gives me warning signs so I back off - Unless he is already on my finger. If he is on one hand, and I bring my other hand/fingers near him in a position that is not step upish, he will often reach out and bite hard, very quick, very little warning. He also bites very hard and flies to attack my hand when I change his food and water bowls while he's in the cage (he won't do that if my hand is in the cage, only if I'm near the bowls). What is the right thing to do when this happens? It is very hard to not make a noise and jump because he will bite very hard. He takes treats from my fingers, but will bite my hand or walk away if I offer them open palmed. He's never let me pet him, as again, if my finger goes near him in a not step up way he will bite.

I will add has gotten wayyyy better with his biting since having hormonal injections, as he was having some hormonal issues and aggression.

Basically, I just wanted to know if there is anything I can do to teach him that hands are always nice, or is this just his personality? If he does bite do I ignore it, or put him in his cage or on a different perch? What do I do to address the behaviour? I literally have dreams where he lets me pet him, but I understand if that's just not what he's into.

Apologies for the long post, just want to make sure I can do everything right for my boy.
