The pitfalls of having a septic tank vs. city sewer?

I am actively looking to move to another state. The problem I am having is that I want a bigger lot (more space between homes) and this comes with a price, the fact that many of these properties are NOT on city sewer. The possibility of having to do major work on a tank or field, totaling $10 - $15K is disconcerting. It is ironic that the nicer properties (that I am seeing) are on septic vs. city sewer.

All feedback on this rather messy issue is greatly appreciated. Am I overthinking this?

Thank you ...

Buying a house in N Alabama ... city sewer vs. septic? Your thoughts are appreciated ...

As my title says, I am looking feverishly at buying in Madison, Limestone ... or even Morgan Counties in the very near future. The problem I am having is that I want a bigger lot (more space between homes) and this comes with a price, the fact that many of these properties are NOT on city sewer. The possibility of having to do major work on a tank or field, totaling $10 - $15K is disconcerting. It is ironic that the nicer properties (that I am seeing) are on septic vs. city sewer.

Games that you recently tried ... that you had high hopes for ... but ended up being a bust?

I recently tried the following games ... and was I disappointed!

Star Trek Infection - Tedious and dull

City of Hunger - Survive - Very disappointing. Seems unfinished with poor aiming and weapon handling.

You?

Home builder recommendations for the greater Huntsville area ...

My significant other and I are heading up to Huntsville to look at properties for a move from our current home. We are retired and are moving closer to kids. I have read MANY previous Reddit posts from others asking the same question ... but they are 1 to 5 years old. I am re-asking the question to see if anything has changed with the builders. The list of "recommended" builders that I have collected include:

- DSLD

- Stone Martin

- WrEn (their website is currently unavailable)

I am also looking at properties built by LPH (Legacy Premier Homes) in/near Athens. Anyone have experience with them? Our budget is about $500k so not looking to buy a Mark Harris home. Any additional recommendations would be appreciated.

Thank you!

Property damage question for landlords (of SFHs)

The backstory: I live in a subdivision of SFHs. I recently ran some comps on the neighborhood to determine what I might get for my home if I tried to sell it. I was surprised to find that approximately 40% of the homes near me are rentals.

Recently, a damaging storm came through the neighborhood causing tree/hail damage. I had noticeable damage and an adjuster just confirmed it.

My question: The damage caused to my home is being covered by my insurance (minus deductible). Many of the homes around me are also damaged but because they are rentals, the tenants don't care ... and the landlords don't know (most are OOS). How do landlords handle this situation if your property is damaged yet the tenants do not care enough to notify you ... especially if you are OOS.

Thanks ...

DNS leaks using SurfShark?

I have been a Surfshark user for about 4 years. Recently, I started noticing DNS leaks, no matter what location I use. This only started happening in the last 3 months. Prior to that, I encountered 100% "No DNS leaks detected" using the Surfshark DNS leak test. Now I receive the message "Your DNS requests are exposed!" ... 100% of the time.

Anyone have any idea what is going on here and how I can prevent DNS leaks in the future? I am in the US and use locations in the US and Europe. Thanks ...

Re-barreled MILSURP rifles ... how does it affect value?

I saw a rifle recently that I thought might be a good catch to add to my meager collection. The rifle is about 100 years old and was re-barreled about 80 years ago. Most/all of the metal parts, including the bolt and receiver have been re-stamped (over stamped ... over the original serial numbers) to match the barrel.

So what is your take? How much (if at all) does re-barrelling a MILSURP rifle affect its value and conductibility?

Thanks ...
