HVAC replacement: is $12,500 a fair price?
I need to replace a 2.5 ton packaged unit (compressor went out). My first quote from Thomas was $12,500. Does anyone know who else I should get a quote from? Or if this is a fair price?

Gate 1 before 6am backed up almost all the way to the parkway. What if we all just boycott coming in to work they can’t fire us all 🤣👎🙄 very annoyed this morning!
As my title says, I am looking feverishly at buying in Madison, Limestone ... or even Morgan Counties in the very near future. The problem I am having is that I want a bigger lot (more space between homes) and this comes with a price, the fact that many of these properties are NOT on city sewer. The possibility of having to do major work on a tank or field, totaling $10 - $15K is disconcerting. It is ironic that the nicer properties (that I am seeing) are on septic vs. city sewer.
All feedback on this rather messy issue is greatly appreciated. Am I overthinking this?
Thank you ...
Had to post it no editing no ai and it is amazing...funny enough she posted it on her tiktok and the banned the photo for being AI generated lol the lighting storm behind the fireworks made this shot Soooo much better
Hey y'all. I'm trying to throw a very small get together (9 people including 2 kids) for my parents for their anniversary at the end of the month. I'd prefer a space with a private room that's downtown and is fairly "reasonable." What are your favorite downtown restaurants?
So how far and wide is the power outage? Anyone got any Intel?
Hey everyone,
I’m a 31-year-old male in North Alabama looking for either a gym partner or a coach to help me stay consistent and reach my fitness goals.
My main goals are:
Building muscle and strength
Improving overall fitness
Staying accountable and consistent
Learning proper form and training techniques
I’m open to training with someone experienced or finding a coach who can help with programming, nutrition, and motivation. I usually work out after work and am willing to meet at a local gym.
If you’re interested or know someone who might be a good fit, send me a message. Thanks!
Gonna try it tonight but cant decide what i should orderrr! Any recommendations on what tacos i need to try lol??
Next meetup will on July 9th at Blue Oak BBQ (outdoor patio) in Midcity from 5:30 to 7:30pm. The meetup is open for anyone to join. Come grab some food or boba tea and have a chat about urbanism at Midicty with Lindsey Pattillo Keane.
A few of us are starting a men’s group in Huntsville called Project 76.
We were inspired to put this together today on the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. The future feels a little uncertain, and one big societal issue we noticed is that a lot of young guys are lost or misguided and don’t have many positive male influences in their life. We love this country and think showing up for each other and working to build community is a good way to show it. Especially right now when it’s easy to just check out, doomscroll on your phone every day, or otherwise be isolated.
Right now we are thinking a simple weekly hangout, same day and time every week. Then bigger stuff once a month like hikes or trips, and some kind of volunteer project every few months so it’s not just hanging out, actually putting in work for something.
The goal is to have a crew of guys who encourage each other to take care of their bodies and mental health, do hard things, and make a difference in the Huntsville community. This is how we reconnect with true masculinity. We are looking for guys who are serious about building that. Not a faith or political based group, the expectation is mutual respect.
The focus is on guys 18-30 based in Huntsville or surrounding areas. If that sounds like something you’re interested in, shoot me a DM and tell me a little about yourself. We will do some vetting for safety and then you’ll be in the GroupMe where we organize things. We want this to be a real crew and not just a group chat.
As the title says, does anyone know of any local Dry Cleaners or others services that specialize in cleaning of baseball hats, I have a couple I am looking to clean but don’t trust my self to not mess them up, any help is appreciated:)
He hated the happy hoodie. It was stressing him out, so I had to take it off. But, I will say hes doing better this year. I bought the calming dog pheromones diffuser, heavenly hounds peanut butter hemp treat, and he had a couple benadryl. He's currently in a blanket fort on the couch next to me. He's shaking a little, but not violently trembling all over and crying.
I didn't give him everything all at once. Started the diffuser yesterday. He had half his treat at the first boom, which was before dark. Then a couple benadryl with peanut butter, and the rest of his treat. Glad he got a walk before the booms started. Im going to have a hard time getting him out again tonight, I can smell black powder in the air, so I know he can really smell it.
Kid got tired and lost interest before the grand finale of the fireworks, but 2 shows were visible from my back patio, not counting what the neighbors are setting off. So I'm glad I didn't drive anywhere.
I sprayed her with bug spray and put a blanket and a pillow in the backyard, and just kept checking on poor.little fuzzy face.
How are your dogs doing? I really.reccomend that calming pheromone diffuser.
Looking for a venue to watch the game today. Someplace with drink/food specials would be cool.
Conditioned
I considered paying for parking in one of the PMC-managed lots. Is this the usual price for two hours, or are they adjusting it based on demand?
The July 4 parade in Huntsville seems very poorly attended going off a live stream that I found. Bleachers that are a quarter full, a lot of empty or sporadically filled sidewalks. It's very, very far from a packed turnout, based on what the live stream shows.
Madison cancelled a parade a couple days ago for the heat. Today, it's 90 but feels even hotter and this was staged during peak heating hours to boot.
Anyone think this wasn't well thought out? Unless other parts of the parade route are full of people, this isn't a good look.
