Sunset lightning over Key West, Florida

I was recording the sunset off a north dock yesterday, only a two minute video. Got so, so incredibly lucky. It felt like the sky posed for the shot. Might be chasing the thrill of getting this photo for the rest of my life lmao.

I love how you can see the lightning come into the cloud in the top left, burning a streak of bright pink from the inside. Also, love the layered deep orange glow in the clouds from the sunset, especially the subsurface scattering, which was the reason I recorded in the first place

Could someone explain these thin, grey clouds laced in with the other white ones? (Over the Florida Keys)

I noticed it was also very smoggy that day, and the smog went about up to the point where these clouds are laying. Also, I made very sure that these clouds weren’t in shade or anything. Total clear sky above them, for the most part.

small acrylic + acryla gouache painting, land eaten by storm - on watercolor paper. open to feedback!

i’ve been trying to get clouds right for a long while and i think i’m finally starting to understand them a bit more. it’s been raining for a week here in the hills of tennessee, and i’m using the opportunity to study, best i can.

although i think it looks nice, i’m still not happy with the foreground lit by the sun. maybe some different highlight tones, more yellow? rays? want to highlight without diminishing the darkness of the background, IDK. also, i can’t figure out how to paint patchy rainfall in the distance, that’s what the left side is supposed to be and i just can’t figure it out, it doesn’t look right.

my trees leave (lol) something to be desired, so any tips would be appreciated!

also, i use both acryla gouache and acrylic. this one is mostly gouache, the greens and yellows being regular acrylic.

4 separate mushrooms after a week of May rain - Central west Tennessee

First pair of photos might be split gill? Not certain. Second and third pairs, no idea. Last is just some really beautiful turkey tail I wanted to share.
