As a goth that does trad goth looks, I'm sooo envious of intl. brands abroad that cater to alternative communities.

Prime examples of these brands are: Sunset Makeup & Makeup A Murder :") 🕷🩸

Ever since I became adult and started doing some building on personal style & stuff like makeups, when splurging, I try my best to shop «ethically» (w/ qualities that, of course, pass my expectations and/or still make do) by always, always, if possible supporting indie brands—as much as possible, never huge corp brands/mass production-type brands (not only are indie brands more often 10× better quality-wise, but also for not adding in to most of the awful practices of big brands and all); availing from cruelty-free and sweatshop-free businesses; buying second-hand; and of course, shopping local. In my case as an alternative person, from jewelries to clothings, this is especially hard. Moreso as someone who's goth and does trad goth looks. Being a student also means my budget is beyond limited atm than most to be actively spending on Intl. indie businesses and/or going for custom-made stuff (💀 I do when I can, but realistically, I am not able to actively do so yet).

And if clothings and jewelries that're not locally owned is hard—here goes MAKEUP.

For more basic stuff like black eyeliner, black brow products, as well as setting sprays & powders—I can rely on what we have here, we have terrific local products for these. But in the context of my prime needs as a goth, it's just these ones :").

It's the literal foundational products that's nonexistent—staples like: full coverage white foundation, pure black-pigment palette eyeshadows/blush/pigment/powders (as a got, I double my black-pigment powders as a contour too—and I only use black pigment for eyeshadows, brands here (understandably considering the target market) include nudes, etc. which in my case are total wastes), black lipsticks/liquid lipsticks\*\*\*, and black lipstains.

\*\*\*The only alt-leaning product I have only EVER gotten my hands on is READY-SET-GLOW's black liquid lipstick. I still have it now 🏴🦇☆. The promos for this were also alt-adjacent, which was soo much for me back when I brought this and saw the promos (I don't think the same promo shoots are still up now though, the brand is on the Minimalist-aesthetic now (opposite of mine, nothing wrong with their change, but you get what I mean :)) )they were so fun pa naman, the graphics and shots they used online, aaahh; I also remember that line having bright blue and purple shades iirc? Very alt-leaning! But yeah, those ads aren't available na ata. My poor heart is wallowing <//3).

... And so yeah, overall, I'm forced to settle with face paints, and some products mass produced ones that aren't as thought-out as local &/indie businesses. On top of the minor heartbreak as well because of the fun spooky, alt-leaning packaged and promo shoots I get to see in alt-owned and alt-target brands, too.

\\\ Slide 2 is my RSG Black Liquid Lipstick; and in all slides I'm wearing it. Slides 1, 3, & 5 are my more recent trad goth looks with white base—using an array of China-based face paint, white foundation, black eyeshadow pigments; local brand setting powders, eyeliners, setting sprays. \\\

Again! Not at all blaming our existent filipino-owned brands—again, I understand that the market for the subculture is VERY VERY VERY low here in the Philippines hence, realistically, no one would understandably bother. :)) 🦇

So, ugh. Just unhinghedly really envious that good, alt-owned, and alt-target ethical and indie brands like Sunset Makeup & Makeup A Murder is accessible for my western ghouls. :")

ALL THAT SAID—DESPERATELY hoping that soon, we can also have talented alternative people who can cater to us ghouls and alt people like Sunset Makeup & Makeup A Murder do. Not only is shipping a huge 💀, but Filo craft is 🤌🏻—and I believe if an alt baddie Filo were to ever curate a brand that cater to us alt ghouls, it'll be 🤌🏻. LIKE, HEAR YOUR LOCAL GHOUL OUT—imagine—us, Filo alt baddies in the promo shoots; incorporation of our spooky mythology and spooky biological creatures on the packagings, aesthetics, promos; having brands that cater to BOTH GOTH-FRIENDLY AND FILO WEATHER FRIENDLY PRODUCTS (they'd hit it internationally imo lmao. Filo-weather tested products merged with goth/alternative-based looks ..? It's gonna be EXPLOSIVE internationally too!). 'DIBA? >:)) 🦇🕷🩸
