What investments are worth it for women as we get older? What is something you wish you had done or saved up earlier?

Could be skincare, fashion pieces or staples, jewelry, skincare, hair care, perfumes, etc. What should younger women start building now?

For example, your signature scent, a proper hand bag, a date night piece, etc.

Learning to do my own nails

I’ve been doing my nails the “old way” since high school (many many years ago). Now that there are new ways of doing it and keeping it last, what tools should I have?

I don’t like elaborate nails. I just enjoy having a clean look and not too long ☺️

Please don’t do chemical tattoo removal

Idk what subreddit to post this. Saw this in an fb group. This is quite alarming since I’ve seen a lot of patients who did this with complications. Please please don’t do tattoo removal using acids or whatever chamical. It may cause significant SCARRING, KELOID FORMATION OR INFECTION. Opt for laser removal instead.

What are your favorite/recommended Filipino sustainable/eco-friendly beauty brands?

Thank you po! 💛💛

Pond's Cold Cream

I have tried some makeup remover but discovered that Pond's Cold Cream works best for my skin type. I don't think that this is getting the hype it deserves.

My mom was the one who pushed me to use this and I was surprised that it is so effective that I seem to get less acne (maybe since my face became cleaner?).

I use this, wash my face, and use a toner to ensure that my makeup is removed. Feel free to recommend if there is a better way haha!

Let’s Face It????? 😭

Hello to people who regularly go do facials — where do you go that won’t break the bank like Belo/Aivee?? I am not happy with the service I have right now. Please drop your facial go-to places and services that you can recommend. I want to be more proactive with taking care of myself.

Anyway…..

I am literally in the middle of a diamond peel treatment at Let’s Face It and I opened my eyes to the “aesthetician” touching and pricking my face with her bare hands 😭😭😭😭 I was shook that I wasn’t able to ask her to wear gloves…. I thought it was mandatory that they do since it might cause an infection 😭😭

Then they put this post pricking mask on my face and I asked what’s in it — she said antibiotic and something to lighten my skin. I got worried because antibiotics are not supposed to be used to casually (altho im pretty sure there’s none). I asked her again what was in it and she just replied that the company made them and they’re not allowed to disclose. Are we not supposed to be informed what they put on our face????

I will definitely be talking to the person in charge later just to ask…. But ughhhh this is 2k. I feel like it’s not worth the money for how it was done 😭😭 The vibe is not even relaxing at all 😭

Reviewing my hairdryers! (Refa, Dyson Supersonic/Nural, Dyson Airstrait)

^(*Not in pic - Dyson Supersonic and Supersonic Nural. My supersonic broke 2 years ago and I've replaced it with the Nural which I eventually gave to my mom lol.)

Hair type/context:

  • thick, naturally straight, coarse hair
  • very frizzy with stubborn stray strands
  • yearly rebonded so my hair is dry, but not straw-level damaged

My priorities are:

  • ease of use
  • frizz control
  • minimal damage

One thing to note: none of these completely eliminated my stubborn flyaways. Even rebonding couldn’t fix them honestly 😂 I’ve accepted that my goal is just reducing overall frizz and making my hair look more polished.

All 3 gave me:

  • shinier hair
  • softer feel
  • less frizz vs air drying
  • that “good hair day” effect

I also don’t use products after drying so some frizz naturally comes back throughout the day.

REFA BEAUTECH DRYER SMART W

What I liked:

  • Hair looks shiny, soft, less frizzy
  • “Bagsak” but still bouncy somehow
  • Didn’t flatten my volume too much
  • Feels the least damaging heat-wise
  • Overall heat feels gentler on my scalp compared to the other two, but still dries hair effectively in a decent amount of time
  • Lightweight and the most travel-friendly
  • Really good performance for the price

It basically gives me “healthy good hair day” vibes with minimal effort.

What I didn’t like:

  • Build quality feels less premium
  • The twisting handle doesn’t glide very smoothly
  • Concentrator attachment doesn’t feel as satisfying/snappy to connect/disconnect
  • Filter cover feels a bit fragile if you remove it carelessly

But honestly it’s almost half the price of Dyson so I can forgive a lot.

Would repurchase? Yes. I got mine in Japan for around 33,200 yen (~12.9k PHP) discounted from 40,000 yen (~15.6k PHP). Mine is the Smart W model so it works in the PH without needing a transformer.

DYSON SUPERSONIC / SUPERSONIC NURAL

What I liked:

  • Slightly better frizz control vs the other two because of the flyaway attachment (this is honestly what I miss most)
  • Lots of styling flexibility for blowout looks and different hairstyles
  • Diffuser was useful when I had permed ends
  • Premium build quality
  • Powerful airflow

This feels like the “pro tool” out of the three. I think this is the best overall choice IF you’re willing to learn how to maximize all the attachments/settings.

What I didn’t like:

  • Learning curve 😭
  • I personally never maximized all the features/settings
  • If you only use it as a basic hairdryer, I honestly think the Refa already does enough for much cheaper
  • Expensive if you’re not the type to experiment with styling
  • PH Dyson service center/customer support was not a good experience for me

I also personally didn’t notice a huge difference between the original Supersonic and the Nural. But disclaimer: I use the same default settings every time and only regularly used 2 attachments (gentle air + flyaway).

Would repurchase? No. It's an amazing tool but I'm not the target market. I'm too lazy to maximize it enough to justify the price lol.

If you love styling and experimenting with attachments, this is probably still the best overall dryer.

DYSON AIRSTRAIT

What I liked:

  • Easiest to use by far
  • Wet-to-dry straightening is insanely convenient
  • Hair looks shiny, soft, less frizzy
  • Gives the smoothest/bagsak result out of the three
  • Perfect lazy girl tool honestly

Compared to the other two, this gives me the straightest finish without needing additional effort.

What I didn’t like:

  • Big ass plug 😭
  • Not versatile styling-wise
  • You’re mostly committing to straight hair
  • Doesn’t work like a flat iron where you can easily curl your hair with it

Would repurchase? Yes.

This is probably the most “grab and go” hair tool I’ve owned, though the Refa is comparable!

My personal ranking as a lazy girl:

  • Most versatile/styling-focused: Supersonic
  • Best value + least damaging feel: Refa
  • Most convenient/easiest daily use: Airstrait

Honestly all 3 are good. It really just depends on how much effort you’re willing to put into styling your hair.

Used my last pads today 🩷

Grabeeee! Started using this August last year. Nakakacalm talaga siya ng skin. I have rosacea, acne prone, sensitive, oily with dry patches skin but despite all of these, ang gentle niya pa din. Ang primary focus ko sa skin ko ay irepair ang skin barrier. This is the Skin1004 Quick Calming Pads. I already repurchased another tub 🩷

Skincare restock before law school finals 💆‍♀️

Puyat season na naman kaya babawiin nalang sa skincare. I have rosacea, acne-prone, sensitive, oily with dry patches (depends on the weather) skin. Current focus ko sa skin ay istrengthen ang skin barrier.

Restock yung centella quick calming pad and freebie yung centella face wash but I'm using the same one din 😁 I have yet to try their probiocica toner.

Also, nakakaaliw talaga freebies ng Skin1004 🩷
