One of my textbooks explains that some masculine greek names have two forms that are used at different times, but I didn't understand this well. Could someone explain if this is still a common thing and when which version is used?

We had a good run, but ultimately I wasn't able to engage and improve my languages on this app. I was playing the game to keep the streak going, which eventually just felt pointless.
