Home gym complete minus flooring

I posted yesterday about combing the fringe gibbon arms with the beyond power Voltra in a separate sub, but I feel pretty solid about the current home gym setup (minus the flooring!) rep PR-5000 with Nike weights and and a few barbells. Added my Voltra and ironmaster equipment and it pairs really well.

Just inside the garage, I have my total gym evolve , which I can pair with my Speediance gym pal to give me a wide range of resistance (both marketplace scores). Off in the cardio corner, I have a peloton bike with the smartspin2k plugged in so I can ride throughout parts of the world while the resistance auto-adjusts, and lastly I have my bandbox from Goblin’s gym. With a few rare exceptions (like setting up for Voltra powered LE on my IM bench with the FA attachment), things are pretty quick and efficient. I love the modularity and that you can find things on marketplace to make this somewhat affordable (minus the Voltra part).

Still looking into gym flooring, so if anyone has recommendations, let me know! And if this serves as inspiration for anyone looking to add a bunch of variety, this is what I’ve been going with and I love it. The only thing I may add is jammer arms, but the rack looks a little busy as is

Omni mount + gibbon arms…solid belt squat, but still can improve

I had been looking forward to testing out my Omni Mount from Voltramounts.com. Had to wait a bit to get set up in the new home, but I finally got my gibbon arms out and gave it a go! A few thoughts.

  1. The Omni mount is SOLID! Huge shoutout to Charles for knocking it out of the park with this one. I was too excited to wait for my mag pins to come, so I’ve been using hitch pins. I’ve used the mount for low rows, lat pull downs, belt squats and RDLs on the gibbon arms, and more, it’s super versatile. When you can mount parallel AND perpendicular to the rack with a 1:2 or 1:1 ratio, that’s so valuable to get all that and not have to buy multiple mounts. I’m crazy close to ordering another Voltra to pair with the other Gibbon arm, but I think for now I’ll experiment with the one and make sure beyond power gets all their inventory back in stock.

  2. Fringe should offer a digital resistance option when selecting cables to pair with the GA, especially with Speediance, FA, and others coming out with their own versions of digital resistance. When I set up my GA, I had to use both end caps to create this setup, since the other end of the cable wasn’t going into a weight stack, and now I will have to order end caps from amazon for the other arm ( I have voltras and free weights, but no weight stack).

  3. If the hole to thread the cable through the arms was a bit bigger, that would also solve some issues in connecting the cable to a Voltra that you can easily unmount when done without having to thread the voltras cable through any free motion arms. From the sounds of it, there are others making belt squat pulley platforms that can be used as well with the Voltra, similar to the Kodiak belt squat.

  4. All these things are still fine, and with the 1:2 ratio provided by the Omni mount (which is BRILLIANT), I still have a lot of cable travel IF the Voltra is mounted far from the entry point of the gibbon arms. The gibbon arms are quite long, and I have a tall rack, so I don’t run into too many issues, but it is a limitation! Wondering if anyone would have any creative fixes to this.

Playing with all the angles that I can with the arms and the Omni mount, and super pumped to see what rolls out I. The next batch of ideas.

Apex and ABX attachments

Anyone have any DIY solutions for making the several ironmaster and abx attachments I already have fit on the apex bench? Modify the male port to make it smaller? Weld a sleeve on the outside of the apex bench? Or is it a lost cause and I need to drop another 1500 😅😂

Sled push?

With the new sled pull feature, I wondered if there was a low profile/light sled or sled alternative that could be pushed like a sled, potentially with place to attach a carabiner low so that the cable could run in between your legs while you push. Anyone know of anything like that out there? Basically just looking for something that could slide on the floor (or with wheels) and some posts to push on. Could be a fun DIY project out there if nothing exists for this out there.

Would love to do some sled pushes with the Voltra, sled pulls have been awesome.

Rotating chest supported row pad for hip thrusts

Between extending arms like exponent edge infinity arm, Pritchett pad, and sorinex bulldog, do any allow for free rotation through the movement for hip thrusts?

Ironmaster heavy handle kit on Eisenlinks

Has anyone tried to install iron master’s heavy handle kit on eisenlinks? I like the quicker drop sets and hexagon shape of the eisenlinks, but the handle on both these adjustables is too wide for me

Ironmaster super bench questions

First question is a DIY question. Has anyone used the original superbench as a seal bench on their rack? I’m planning to update mine to the newer pad and don’t know what to do with the old bench once the pad is removed.

Second question is about cross compatibility. I’ve seen videos on the freak athletes leg developer working on the ironmaster super bench v2, but does anyone know if it works on the original ironmaster superbench? The leg developer that comes with that model seems particularly awful, but I know that even on iron masters website they mention different leg developers working for the V2 vs original, even though all other attachments seem to work with either. Thanks in advance to anyone who knows
