Replace with lifetime parts

Not referring to ECS or EUROFCP’s lifetime warranty. Specifically I’d love to compile a list of parts that are over engineered or metal or just meant to be a big upgrade over the factory item.

Just curious what I’m missing. I keep seeing this heavy billet interior door handle for the E30 on Facebook and got me thinking what are some parts we can replace that is like this for the e36?

Some off the top of my head

- water pump impeller
- I think I saw exterior door handles recently
- aluminum radiator upgrades
- radiator fan shroud
- thermostat housing
- plastic door cards (honestly might outlast recovered stock cards)
- DSSR upgrade for the shifter assembly
- braided brake lines

Left FP&A in tech for another industry. Worth it? Regret?

I’ve been in FP&A, particularly within tech companies in VHCOL areas my entire career. One of my peers is actively seeking fpa work on an older national retail company. Main reason is looking for a slower pace which includes lower comp. Less fancy benefits and perks.

Just curious, how true is this? As I get older, I don’t have aspirations for senior leadership positions. I’d like to consider other large companies if the tradeoffs really exist.

Has anyone here made the switch and did you notice that difference? Grass is always greener?

Those that grabbed Milwaukee M12 Fuel over Hercules impact driver. Why?

I’m looking to get my first small cordless impact and got it down to these two. Milwaukee seems smaller and that’s bonus as my next tinker is an intake manifold swap.

Curious what reasons for whoever had to make that choice.

Milwaukee is on sale and the sub-compact profile is the biggest sell. Don’t even need the power. But I also recognize I’ll need to go to the Hercules platform soon and will end up getting the batteries and charger down the line

While I’m in there - starter replacement?

I have a 95 M3 that I plan to do a starter replacement from the top. While I’m in there, anything you guys recommend? I know it’s a pain to take the intake off but it’ll be better than going underneath for me.

And do most get away with not repalcing the intake gaskets/throttle body gasket?

Courses worth the money?

Started a new job and they reimburse for any certifications, seminars etc.

Curious, any recommendations?

I’m thinking Claude for fpa if there are any. If anything, I’d assume udemy or subscription to linkedin learning would be another good resource

Anything about building recurring reporting thru AI would be the biggest lift. Close related, etc

Where to buy small amount of colored PPF online?

I’m looking to diy a roof with failed clear. I also like the idea of giving it a try myself. I see recommendations for wrap but are there any retailers that has small amounts enough for my one panel?

Colored PPF is what I’m looking for. My search results in saying eBay and Amazon’s are all fake. Any common places I can put an order online?

Valvetronic exhaust? Who’s had it?

Valvetronic or eBay or even Ali (I personally think it’s extremely likely theyre all the same), if you had them added, I’d love to hear from you.

I have a Remus exhaust with no cats and although sound great, it’s loud. Much too loud at start up and sometimes too loud driving around especially when close proximity to LE.

To me, a remote controlled valved exhaust would solve the startup and neighbors issue while allowing me to open them up when I want. Given my preferences I’d honestly keep valves closed more often than open.

Was your purchase worth it? Should I seriously consider this?

Refi Novice Looking for the first time - realistic expectations?

Total novice here but I would look at national average of rates and felt like it just wasn’t the time. Come to find out, better deals were out there, they just needed to be discovered. Feel like I lost out.

Ive waited a couple years on the sidelines, now i figure I find the best I can now, and lock it in. ARM has always felt uncomfortable for me.

I’m looking for a 30yr fixed. Currently, my loan is 7/1 6.375% jumbo $1.28M in South Bay. A simple Zillow search and I see (random example), “summit mortgage” at 5.75% APR for a 30yr fixed.

Then I discovered this subreddit! Instead of online sources, I figure I ask directly here, what is a realistic “good” APR for a 30yr jumbo refi right now?

Is anyone currently or just locked down a refi and willing to share their loan person?

Reporting with Claude - Artifacts really work?

Started a new role and I have the opportunity to reimagine the reporting. Currently it’s a mix of excel reports and very light BI dashboard

We have Claude enterprise licenses and I’d like to utilize them. Let’s say for BvA reporting, I see two options here that’ll really give me a ton of time back.

  1. Artifacts: spend the time polishing up the dashboards, send it out. Speed is high in producing and iterating. When we land on a format that works, my understanding is that there really isn’t a dashboard consistency problem month over month
  2. Claude in Power BI, the biggest thing is consistency is solved completely but it’s slower to setup and iterate. The setup would take time but the actual distribution would be strong. Consistent reporting location that’s constantly live

Anyone has experience deciding between the options?

Admittedly I’m self learning Claude but based on my experience, these are the options that seem to be materializing
