Downtown Calgary degraded connectivity since 5 Oct

Copying my post from /r/Calgary:

Has anyone else around downtown been having quite degraded connectivity with Telus? There isn't a fault reported in my area, and I see no way to report this kind of fault on the website.

7-day latency graph from my Unifi gateway

The entire apartment building is affected. Our 24 hour uptime is down to 97%, with at least 14 disconnections over the past 24 hours.

Another user is reporting the same issue: > Yeah we been having same issue in our office building on 8th Ave. Started around Monday evening, packet loss spikes every 20-30 minutes. Telus support just runs the usual script and says no outage detected. The graph looks exactly like ours, that sawtooth pattern is brutal for any real-time work.

Inactive accounts repurposed to market GTA 6

See this account, user HellBay1. 8 year old account, no activity for 8 years, with a new surge of activity starting 3 months ago - all focused around hype for GTA 6.

My question: is reddit management re-selling these accounts to marketing firms? I find it unlikely the original user was involved in such a transaction.

A ton of new political bot accounts out in full force over at r/newsthread

Tons of brand new accounts spamming US politics news in that (relatively) new sub. I don't know the full extent of the activity, since I have hundreds of similar subs already blocked, these bots may be active in many other places too.

Also similar to another thread from today, I've also noticed a lot of other new non-politics bots accounts cropping up in other subs. Picked up a bot network in the baking subreddit today.

Tip: when you find one of the bot spam subs, sort by top posts of all time and block the posters of top posts made in the past 3-4 months

I found the anticapitalism sub is flooded with political news spam. The accounts for nearly every top post in the past 3-4 months seemed to be a politics spam accounts.

A couple of the accounts are probably professionally operated rather than AI bots, since they would have very genuine looking behaviour and engagement, and then suddenly 2-3 pages of spam political news posts within minutes to like 10 different subs. E.g. why is a seemingly Norwegian person suddenly posting news articles about a US supreme court decision to multiple different subs, when the majority of their engagement focuses on local or hobby related matters?

GirlDinnerDiaries is the new "AI-generated text post" sub

It seemed to have a decent amount of genuine interaction for a while, which was pretty nice. But it looks like the karma farming bots have noticed, and now it's just a text post spam sub, with an image of food attached. Free real estate for karma farming accounts, presumably for re-sale or usage in other forms of inauthentic engagement.

I'll link my comment on a recent post there:

Bot networks inciting racial tension

Bot account First-Cherry493 posts only a selection of content intended to incite racial tension. And I'm quite sure there's an associated bot network aiding the posts in very rapidly gaining traction and engagement. Very reliably there'll be lots of comments like "the usual suspects".

Lttstore support dead-end links?

I'm trying to exchange an item where I ordered the wrong size. I sent an email to support@lttstore.com, but I thought I might have the wrong email since I didn't get an auto-reply.

I go the lttstore website and follow the Help Center link at the bottom of the page, which brings me to an odd looking page. I go to [General] then choose the option about modifying an order. The last paragraph explains exchanges and sends me to this url: https://global.lttstore.com/pages/return-policy

Finally, on that page I click on the 'contact support' link... which brings me here: https://lttstore.gorgias.help/en-US with a 404 not found page.

I did eventually find the 'submit a request' page from the desktop version of the site, but something's wrong if this is the support labyrinth I went through to end up nowhere initially!

*Edit: Oh boy, this prompt on the screen after clicking submit could very easily be missed, since it fades away.

AITApod seems to be entirely a bot network

I filter most of these text based subreddits, but new ones pop up from time to time.

All the posts seems to be by bot operated accounts attempting to hide their post history.

For at least current top 2 posts, I've made comments highlighting their nature, here and here.
