Just wanted to share these Destiny Cabal boys i printed last weekend. As always, terrific job by SkullForge Studios! They're perfect for FDM, as they are chunkier than most miniatures. I'll come back when they are painted, and I think I'm gonna have a blast since there are a lot of colors schemes to choose from.
This weekend, I wanted to paint this model that had been sitting on my shelf for quite some time. I also wanted to try painting with mostly metallic paints (greedy gold and plate mail from Army Painter). I really like how it turned out, but i have to admit my spear needs lots of works.
Last month, I posted a clone squad I got from Skullforge Studios. I decided to use them as a project where I could test out a bunch of different things: Army Painter warpaints/washes, capes, and basing. With 5 clones done, I can happily say I’m satisfied with the results. The paints are really good! The strong tone wash gave the miniatures a pretty muddy appearance (I’m still trying to figure out how washes work and how to properly clean them up on FDM prints). Painting the capes was a challenge, but I think I’m getting better with each new miniature I paint. The bases were done with some sand I got from a local aquarium store. I'm excited to post the rest of them once they’re done, probably by the end of the month.
Couldn't hold myself and got one of the Destiny kits by SkullForge Studios! This titan came out really well using resin supports, I just had to resize it by 107% so it could have the same height as the clones I printed earlier.
Gonna have a blast painting it with my new Army Painter fanatic set. I might buy the vex collection later and start making some dioramas. Any ideas?
Earlier this month I shared with you guys my ever-growing Warhammer collection, which has been happily sitting on my shelves waiting to be painted. But like anyone with a 3D printer, I just wanted to keep printing more and more miniatures. And this time I decided to go with something different...
This is the "Replicant Infantry" pack from Skull forge Studios, printed with a Bambu Lab A1 Mini, a 0.2 mm nozzle, eSun PLA+ filament and ObscuraNox's print profile. 8 out of the 10 minis were printed using Painted4Combat's Resin2FDM add-on, which I properly configured this time and had some pretty good results (quite a difference comparing to my first time using it). I found most of the problems I had before were actually due to the way I sliced the model on Lychee Slicer. A of couple tweaks on the support settings and voilà.
I absolutely adored these minis! The poses are great and the details are on par with the source material. I was worried they wouldn't come out really well since they are made for resin printers but I guess I was wrong. Next, I plan on buying one of their Destiny packs and see if they are just as good.
Primeira vez fazendo biscoitos. Coloquei canela demais e gengibre de menos, aí virou um biscoito de cravo e canela. Usei 2 moldes diferentes, mas o de girassol é mais bonitinho e deixa as bordas mais crocantes.
Last month I started painting my printed minis and I've been liking the process so far. I started with cheap acrylics (Acrilex paints, the Brazilians here will know the brand) and learned the basics of priming, using brushes, thinning paints, etcetera. Then I got a Vallejo ultramarine paint kit to paint some blueberries and the difference in quality is ASTONISHING. A black primer followed by a Royal Purple undercoat and Ultramarine Blue as the main color gave me a pretty good result. I also used Glacier Blue for the highlights (I struggled a bit, as you can see) and a black wash for the helmet, weapons and other detailed parts. I'm by no means a good painter (yet), but I'm enjoying the hobby so far!
I started printing these last month and now I can't stop. So far, I've had a better experience printing larger models like the terminators and the dreadnought, all with tree supports. Gonna try printing some models with separate parts now. I'm using an A1 mini with a 0.2mm nozzle, Bambu's PLA Lite and ObscuraNox's settings.
