What do you like about Bonn? (From an international student)

Hi all, I'll hopefully be attending school in Bonn if I get my visa in time. From what I have heard, Bonn isn't a "happening" city. But still, for positivity's sake, what are some good things about the place? This is pretty open-ended on purpose lol

MSc Economics: Research Opportunities

Hi all, I'm hopefully attending the MSc econ program at Bonn this year. I want to apply for a PhD after and am hoping to do research with professors during the program. Do any of you know whether non-German speakers get RA opportunities? I know I'm significantly disadvantaged by not knowing any German, but it is what it is for now.

Thanks :)

Master's Student Acceptance Letter: What info does it have?

Hi all, my MSc program is taught in English. I'm applying for a student visa and Bonn hasn't sent the formal acceptance letter yet. (Just the acceptance email.)

Did your letter specify the language of instruction? Did it specify whether your language proficiency was verified?

They're not great at responding quickly and I'm trying to iron out visa details ASAP. Thanks!

MSc Economics: Can you defer if you don't get a visa in time?

Hi y'all, i got into the MSc econ program at Bonn last week and it seems that the student visa process might extend beyond when classes start. Does anyone know if they allow deferment at all? I've contacted two people at Bonn but they haven't responded yet.

Thanks!

U. Bonn MS in Economics Offer: Desire to get a PhD later

This is a request for advice.

Hi all, I applied for the MS program at Bonn and unexpectedly got in. I'm from Pakistan, and I've also applied for an MS program there, which I have yet to hear from. The Pakistani program does also get US PhD placements and their faculty members consistently hire RAs and TAs.

The thing is, I want to apply for a PhD after completing my master's degree. More importantly, I'd like to do this in the US - is Bonn's master's program a suitable stepping stone for US PhD applications? Thanks!
