PLEASE Help - Using the x32 rack with an IEM setup
TL;DR at bottom
Hello, I’m having some trouble putting together an IEM setup using the Behringer x32. I play in a two piece rock act, and we want to play to a backing track (bass guitar) and click track, and send the bass and maybe some keys to FOH, as well as be able to hear live vocals and guitar that go into our splitter and into our IEMs and FOH. We’re experienced players, but not sound engineers. And this is the first time I’ve had to figure out a setup like this, and I’m a little in over my head here.
The setup is as follows:
Reaper on a laptop running our backing/click tracks ->
Laptop into a Focusrite 18i20 ->
The 18i20 into the x32 aux inputs (outputs 3 and 4 on the 18i20 into Aux inputs 1 and 2 on the x32) (as well as the Reaper metronome routed to output 5 on the 18i20 into aux input 3 on the x32) ->
Aux outputs 1 & 2 into both inputs on the Sennheiser G4
I then have a splitter with one set of tails plugged into the XLR inputs on the x32. And the other would go to FOH.
The main thing I’m having trouble with is the routing. I was able to get one backing track (bass) and the click to route to the IEM, but when I tried to route a live vocal into the mix (not through reaper) I couldn’t quite figure it out. I want to make sure everything is routed correctly (pre-fader, mix busses, etc) so the in ear mix can be changed without affecting the house mix, but I’m having trouble finding some tutorials. Everything I find isn’t quite the exact setup I have.
TL;DR: How do I set up all our backing tracks, click track, and live instruments and vocals so they can properly go to our IEMs? I believe the settings on the x32 are where the issues lie, but for fucks sake I just cannot figure it out. Do I need multiple mix busses? How should everything look as far as routing on the x32 console? I can’t seem to find an exact answer I would really appreciate any help as this has been stressing me out for days. Thank you so much in advance.
