almost lost my dog in a parking lot today, please just get a seatbelt
so this happened 2 weeks ago and im honestly still a little shaken.
im pulling into a spot at the grocery store and this lady just walks straight out infront of my car with her cart. i wasnt even going fast but i had to tap the brakes and my pup who was just chilling on the back seat slid forward and almost went right off the seat.
he was fine. just scared. but i couldnt stop thinking about it the whole drive home.
like i dont even drive with my dogs that often, this was a rare trip, and it was a parking lot at maybe 5mph. what happens if im on an actual road doing 30 and someone slams on their brakes infront of me?? i really dont want to picture it.
got home, did some quick googling, and ordered a seatbelt+harness clip thing that same night. and after seeing what people paid in vet bills for dogs that got hurt in sudden stops, honestly the belt is nothing compared to that.
anyway im not trying to preach, im just kinda rattled and wanted to share. if you throw your dog in loose like i used to... maybe dont.
whats everyone here using? is a basic seatbelt clip enough or do i need the crash tested harness type? kinda paranoid now.
