Working Sales at Nordstrom as College Student
I am a biochem major working at Nordstrom,
I have very limited availability now that I have started classes again… was told by new DM, after 12 PPs of working (with an accommodated schedule for uni), that I was “misinformed” by my previous manager and that anyone hired, by company standards, needs to have “open availability” and be able to work “full time” or else the job “isn’t compatible”.
My question is, why has this not been brought up in my 8 months there, in the Almost year my other worker has been there, and the 4 my other one has???? If my previous manager was doing something wrong why is it never addressed?
Not advancing commission as much was also brought up to my attention (i work at a low traffic store)
I am occupied by uni and family problems…
In all honesty, i do feel checked out of the job.
Was also told it does not seem I can commit myself fully to that job…like yeah because I have a life and this is not my career…lol…
I also do not care about sales as much as there are women in my team whose livelihood rely on advancing commission. In my head, they deserve it more.
This is a toxic job through and through.
Should I just quit? Or should I wait it out & put more effort?
This is happening to my other coworkers who are also in uni.
