3.8.11 still waiting

It’s been over 5 months since I requested the download on the vw app. I have successfully done at least one OTA in the past so I know it can do it but 5 months seems like a long time to wait for my wave of VINs. I called VW support and they weren’t able to tell me when my VIN might come up for download. I’ve done all the things like drove a long time to give it a chance etc. but never does it.

I am anxious for this one because my infotainment is having all kinds of problems I have posted about before and hoping there is a bug fix here to make it more stable.

I’m curious anyone else out there waiting more than 5 months for 3.8.11?

2013 CMAX is dead

I had this Cmax energi for one year. I put 5000 miles on it. Recently the 12 V battery died.

This started a cascade of events. After replacing the 12 V battery it wouldn’t start unless you cleared some codes first, but then the code would come back if the car sat idle for too long.

I took it to a Ford dealership, they replaced the PCM and the BECM. It still had problems. They then did pinpoint testing on the high voltage battery and determined that the cell to cell voltage variability was way out of norm (more than 9x the acceptable) in our recommending a new high voltage battery. The quote was $8000.

I’m certainly not going to do that, but now I have an otherwise immaculate shape Cmax with only 140,000 miles, a new 12 V battery, new PCM, new BECM, and tires with less than 3000 miles on them

I’m at a loss as to what to do with it now aside from selling it to a salvage yard for $200.

I can’t list it as a mechanics special on Facebook because it won’t turn on and pass smog

In California, the seller has to smog the vehicle before they can sell it.

If any other person has experienced something like this and has some advice, I would really appreciate it.

Paying good money for the car and then more to troubleshoot it only to end up selling it for a few hundred dollars, knowing I now need to buy a replacement is a hard pill to swallow.

Considering 2013 Mazda 3 touring sedan with 122k for son

Anything specifically to be on the look out for this model year?

The priority is efficiency and reliability

Basics like tires and brakes and battery all have been addressed recently.

Looks like a good college student car. Appreciate links or input from the group

Love my ID 4 hate my ID 4

I have never owned a car that I’ve been so happy with and so disappointed with at the same time. I love the comfort features drivability in size of my VW ID4

The only issue we have ever had with it is one that doesn’t seem to ever go away, even after repeated dealer servicing

The infotainment system has a mind of its own. Over the last two years it will do very random things that have been frequently reported, including continuously rebooting.

For the past week, the infotainment system decides to turn on at night time while the car is parked in the garage and turned off.

If my iPhone is anywhere close, it will connect to CarPlay even if I do forget my network. The only way to avoid is the turn Bluetooth off my iPhone.

And last night at three in the morning, the radio turned on loudly and I had to go down to the garage to manually reset the infotainment system and turn down the volume.

The two previous times I took to the dealer. They did a soft upgrade, hoping that would adjust the issue and it seems like it goes away for a while and then comes back.

I’m on 3.5.11 and have been awaiting 3.8.11 for about four months now

I am concerned that the entertainment system being on all night is draining the 12 V battery

Has anyone dealt with this successfully? If so, please share.

No start after 12v battery change

I’ve spent so much time on this in the last week troubleshooting as well as using AI tools that scrape all the Reddit & YouTube videos on this subject. I realize this is not a new problem to report, but I can’t seem to get past this problem.

background: 2013 cmax energi with seven year old 12 V battery finally died. Car wasn’t being driven because my son was sick for the week so it likely sat without 12 V power for most of the week. after installing a brand new Motorcraft battery purchased from Ford, accessories and everything else started behaving normally. however when going to start, it would not get into the green ready to drive mode. They had to stop safely message as well as the check engine light. I tried to do the manual battery management reset using the highbeams and brake pedal trick, but that did not work. Ultimately, I ended up buying odb2 adapter that is compatible with FORScan Lite app on my iPhone. With this new detail, I found over 25DTC. I know this is not unexpected. Given the long amount of time the car was without power after clearing all of the errors and doing a battery management reset from the app. The car went into ready to drive, which was great my son then drove her back home about 2 1/2 hours with no issues. the next morning I went to move it into the garage to put it on our L2 charger and it would not start and have the same messaging. After resetting the DTC‘s (there were two of them )the car started again. Since then, if the car sits idle for more than an hour, it’ll raise the P060A DTC and not start until you clear it. This is not a long-term solution from a young son and I’m looking for any input from anybody else who might’ve experienced something similar. Thanks in advance.
