Found a really neat lighter just laying on the rocks in a relatively remote part of the Pacific coastline

I was hiking the Pacific coast, just enjoying the scenery, when I saw a red and gold object just lying on the cliffs edge. I got closer and saw that it was this cool Ho Chi Minh lighter. Độc lập, tự do, hạnh phúc!

What an awesome find. I suppose someone was just sitting here smoking while enjoying the view.

I don't know if it works or not, it sparked briefly when I first found it, but no longer ignites. The elements may have worn it down? Or do I just need to refuel it? I'm not a zippo or fancy lighter collector. If I've ever needed one, the basic BICs have always been enough for me. Any advice on getting this thing operational again?

Anyways, probably a long shot, but does anyone know anything about this lighter? A company that makes them? I'd like to know more about this lighter if possible. It doesn't have the standard "button" of most lighters, its some type of cylindrical activator located on the side of the lighter. It feels well made. A bit hefty and the lid has this nice "snap" to it.

Tips for a hiker concerned with possible mountain lion encounters in the SC area

Hi there. I'm going to be taking my first multi day, long distance hike along the Pacific coast from Santa Cruz to San Francisco. I'm excited for this but I am a bit concerned with the possibility of encountering mountain lions. Any hikers in this sub know how common they are along California coastal trails? Any tips for dealing with them? I know they are stealthy stalking predators and honestly if one wants to eat me I probably wouldn't even see it coming until it's already chewing on the back of my neck, but I'd at least like to try to be prepared. I do plan on purchasing bear spray for the trip.

Should we just get it over with and fight Iran?

At this point Iran has

  1. rejected inspectors for their nuclear program

  2. said their ballistic missile program is non-negotiable

  3. vowed to continue to support their proxies

  4. repeatedly insist that they will charge some type of toll or fee on the Strait of Hormuz

Despite US claims to the contrary.

I think most people knew this already but it seems clear that these negotiations are a dog and pony show. It actually seems like theres no middle ground that can be reached. So which do you prefer? Pay them out and accept their demands, or go to war? Which do you think Trump would choose?
