The ultimate garden betrayal: Green Lynx Spider vs. Blue-Banded Bee on my Moringa plant. (Bangalore)
Woke up to find a bittersweet ecological showdown on my terrace today.
• The Victim: A striking Blue-Banded Bee, one of our local native bee species famous for its incredible "buzz pollination" technique. They are absolute powerhouses for the garden.
• The Assassin: An Indian Green Lynx Spider (Peucetia viridana). These are true ambush predators that rely on their translucent green camouflage and prominent spiky legs rather than spinning a traditional capture web. They sit right on top of flowers specifically to intercept incoming pollinators.
• The Venue: A flowering Moringa (drumstick) cluster.
It is tough seeing your favorite pollinator get taken out, but you have to admire the raw efficiency of the Lynx spider's camouflage game.
