My metalhead friend revisiting Liberty
Hello everyone, how are you doing? So, recently, my best friend, the one you guys already know about, decided to give a try to the albums he didn't like when we were doing that whole journey through Duran Duran discography.
Liberty was the one I was pestering him the most to do, since in his own words "it's like a traumatic memory. I know it happened, I just can't remember any of it", and then I made that post about it you had to pick two songs, which ones it would be. He chose Hothead and Violence of Summer and I just couldn't grasp my head around it; it's not his style, not on an album with Serious.
And we were talking on WhatsApp about it, and since we are Brazilians, the translator got a bit wonky, pardon for any confusing sentences. The songs on the screenshots are Violence of Summer, Liberty and My Antarctica.
"This album is a Warren feat Duran Duran, because the only consistent thing about it is how great his guitars are. It's not a bad album per se, it's just all over the place. How can you have Serious and My Antarctica lumped with Venice Drowning? Still, between Liberty and RCM, Liberty all the way. I can see Hothead on my playlist, but not The Valley, you know?"
He listened to Paper Gods and RCM, but it was in person and I didn't remember to make annotations. But, he likes Paper Gods a bit more, because Butterfly Girl exists, but not enough to be a liked album. And RCM...it's not even worth it for me to say all the things he thinks about this album now. In the end, he will forever be an Arcadia fan.
